Ya pay for years of experience and costs! Gotta laugh at this person questioning a gas installer

To the plumber who quoted me $1,200 to connect a generator to a gas line — I need you to explain yourself IMMEDIATELY.
We’re talking about a connection… to a line… that is ALREADY RIGHT THERE.
Not a full system install. Not a trench. Not a rebuild of the entire gas infrastructure.
And yet somehow this turned into a four-figure situation.
Now I’m out here staring at my own meter like I’m supposed to just accept this without question while trying to figure out if there’s a sane way to do this without taking out a second mortgage.
This isn’t a luxury upgrade. This is backup power so I don’t lose electricity for DAYS.
Make it make sense.

Reminder make sure your sump pumps are working and have power make sure you’re discharge ends aren’t frozen like this one make sure snow is shovelled away from the house so that water can drain away from the foundation. Check the foundation for cracks and also check your window wells make sure that they can drain. Make sure you Eavestrough can drain water away from the foundation!
