We are pleading to the community to share awareness following a major influx of calls for both "abandon" and deceased fawns.

We are pleading to the community to do your part in protecting these animals; it's as simple as DO NOT APPROACH OR TOUCH BABY FAWNS!

Mommas will leave their babies for many hours at a time and will return for them. An alone faen is NOT an abandoned fawn. Leave the area and mom will return.

The second way you can support is by slowing down on the roads. Baby deer don't run as fast as their mommas. When a doe crosses in front of your vehicle, PAUSE AND LOOK FOR BABES FOLLOWING.

Its been a tragic and trying week for everyone. Please do your part and keep the babies safe.

Folks as many of you are aware that we Wise Wildlife Control Services takes in injured wildlife through out the year.

We work with Vernon Veterinary clinic, Interior Wildlife Rehabilitation and the BC Wildlife Park.

We now are facing a tough situation with the Avian Bird flu is potentially putting all those that assist in helping these birds at risk.

We will still continue to help where we can, we ask that if you have a bird that needs help make sure you are wearing gloves and mask when handling the birds and bring them to us.

Birds will have to be transported to the BC Wildlife Park in Kamloops

Thank you for your patience during this difficult time

It actually feels a little weird saying this in February but the snakes are out!

Thanks to V.L. for reaching out yesterday and sharing this absolutely gorgeous specimen of a Northern Rubber Boa spotted on the Rail Trail. While this native, non-venomous beauty is great to watch, let this serve as a reminder for everyone as we get into the warmer temperatures.

With spring here, all species of snake will start emerging so please be mindful in areas with rattlesnakes. Never pick up or attempt to pick up a snake you cannot positively ID.

You may remember our little babies from June 9th...

Well they are all grown up and again released in the wild. We would like to thank Eva and her group and Interior Wildlife Rehab for taking such good care of the little stinkers!

No one was sprayed during our escapade and smiles were everywhere as we watched our 5 little babies run off into the world!

I can't hide how proud I am of this man.. my father & mentor. He has taught me so much about dedication, ethics and helping others because it's the right thing to do.

At the beginning of this month (the 3rd to be exact) he celebrated his SEVENTY-FIFTH birthday with no slowing in sight.

5 little babies off to rehab tonight

Just a reminder that baby season is in full swing. Any time you encounter any wildlife baby observe from a distance.

These little guys were 2 days without mom and running amuck in a back yard. All are well fed, safe and on their way to rehab.

This is what happens when you allow netting to hit the ground. Snakes can’t back up and get tangled…

If you are using deer netting, be mindful of our snake friends and keep your needing a minimum of 3-5 inches off the ground.

This Great Basin Gopher Snake was untangled and released.

Taking a moment to recognize another dedicated, hard-working small business in our Vernon and Area.

Cory Timmermans of Timmermans Mobile Tires paid me a visit today to do a full mount/balance and straight swap for 2 of my vehicles.

Personable, quick and super professional.

Always THRILLED to see small business out there who truly enjoy what they do!

I'm ready for winter and didn't even have to leave my house! Are you ready?? ~ Holly

Urban wildlife conflict is something that we all need to be aware of, however as we work to manage one species, others become more at risk. Primarily over the summer months this conflict becomes more deadly.

Again this evening Pete and I were faced with an unpredictable situation of a rather large rattlesnake caught in deer netting. Situations like this force us to have the utmost trust in eachother to know that I will get the snake out quickly and Dad will maintain control of its head. The two us this up-close and personal is enough to drive a little bit of fear into anyone. Adrenaline kicks in and we get the job done - safely, humanely and quickly. This large guy was successfully freed and released to live another happy day and so are we.

Every year we are faced with numerous calls that consistently put ourselves and the snakes in danger. We ask that you please be mindful when you are wildlife proofing your yard:

* keep all deer netting a minimum of 6 to 8 inches off the ground

* ensure any mesh weave enclosures in gardens are no more than 1/8" gap (even a large snake can get tangled into a 1/4 inch space)

* keep any grain/birdseed contained as this attracts rodents; rodents are a main food source

The more we become attentive and adapt to all wildlife around (big and small) the faster we will find balance.

As always, we are available for any situation that arises and will do our best to make sure to keep everyone safe. Quick reminder, all snakes are protected in BC - if in conflict with one, please reach out.

Be well - Holly & Pete
