Shout-Out to Recreation & Wellness Division - Town of Stephenville for this initiative to clean up litter!
♻️ A Quick Note About Our Community Cleanup Volunteers ♻️
You may occasionally see volunteers around Stephenville collecting litter and leaving filled garbage bags along their cleanup routes.
Those bags have not been abandoned. Our community cleanup volunteers have an arrangement with the Town that allows them to leave collected bags in designated areas for Town crews to pick up during garbage collection routes.
These volunteers give their own time to walk our streets, trails and parks and pick up litter that would otherwise remain in our community. Recently, we've heard that some volunteers have been confronted or criticized for leaving these bags, including while cleaning up our parks.
We want to make it clear: they are doing exactly what they have been asked and permitted to do.
Please treat our volunteers with kindness and respect. If you see someone out collecting litter, thank them, give them a wave, or simply let them continue their work.
If you can't lend a hand, please don't make the hands helping our community work any harder. 💚
To our cleanup volunteers: thank you for continuing to care for Stephenville.
