There are only a few days left to apply for the Ontario Seniors Community Grant Program and to the Veterans Program stream.

The Seniors Community Grant Program helps local not-for-profit community groups and organizations deliver projects, supports and resources that help older adults (aged 55+):

- live independently
- live with safety and security
- stay connected to their community
- avoid isolation
- achieve greater financial security and social connections

Programming can be delivered either: remotely, virtually, or
in-person.

Grants range from $1,000 to up to $25,000.

Since 2018, the Seniors Community Grant Program has supported over 2,100 projects in communities across Ontario.

Veterans Program Stream
Building on the government’s priority to improve the quality of life for Ontario’s veterans, the 2026–2027 Seniors Community Grant Program will include a program stream focused on funding projects that will positively impact senior veterans.

The Ontario Together Trade Fund (OTTF) is now accepting applications. This program provides financial support to businesses looking to make near-term investments so they can serve more interprovincial customers, develop new markets and re-shore critical supply chains in the face of U.S. tariffs. With a focus on small and medium enterprises (SMEs), the program will help businesses, build local capacity, enhance trade resiliency, and make the necessary investments to successfully expand into new markets.

Projects must address the impacts of U.S. trade disruptions and align with Ontario’s key economic priorities.

Read the full program guidelines before submitting your application to the Ontario Together Trade Fund.

Did you know that only 19% of Ontario farms have a written succession plan? That means that over $182.5 billion (Stats Canada 2023) in farm business assets could be at risk of being left without a clear future.

If you are interested in learning more about how to protect your own farm assets, contact your local bank, accountant or Farm Credit Canada representative to discuss succession planning. Creating a succession plan is also an eligible component for funding through the "Business Stream" of the Rural Ontario Development Program.

To learn more about working together for the next generation, the Ontario Federation of Agriculture has created a recording of its recent information session on this subject and it's now available on youtube.

Maple Ridge Farm, in North Stormont, has the sweetest of stories to tell its visitors, as they are welcomed to SDG Counties newest maple distillery!

On Saturday, North Stormont Mayor Francois Landry, MP Eric Duncan and a few members of the Moose Creek Chamber of Commerce had the opportunity to tour the new state-of-the art facility which is currently distilling a fresh batch of maple sweet wine and high distilled spirits.

Maple distilled spirits offer a unique and varied taste experience, generally characterized by the earthy sweetness of maple syrup. The product is made by distilling maple syrup using a simple ingredient list of only syrup, water and yeast. The end result is a selection of spirits that will make any Christmas celebration that much sweeter! Products can now be purchased on site at the farm location at 18035 County Road 43, in Apple Hill, Ontario. They expect to offer opening hours from Monday to Wednesday. You can book your group visit or verify the hours by calling 613-800-0390 or emailing [email protected]

Please help support this new Made in SDG business by booking your visit and giving the Chen’s a proper welcome to the County!
