Custom Septic Hatch Install 🧭

This custom septic hatch was designed to be both functional and visually striking, featuring an accurate etched compass built directly into the lid.

The blue sandstone, salt-and-pepper granite, and white marble were supplied and manufactured by BC Marble Products. After reviewing multiple stone samples and compass design concepts, we worked closely with the client to select the perfect material and finalize the layout.

The final choice was a salt-and-pepper granite lid, precision cut using a water jet saw. The compass design was then sandblasted and stained black to create a bold contrast and make the details stand out beautifully.

We also carefully reviewed stone thickness and structural requirements to balance durability with manageable weight for the client.

A lot of planning and craftsmanship went into this one, and we couldn't be more proud of how it turned out.

Patience and process quietly shape the outcome sometime between concept, construction drawings and installation.

The softscaping portion of this project is now complete on this woodland garden refresh ✨ Stay tuned for the hardscape phase.

This project was designed as a resilient rock garden layered with sedums, stonecrops, allium, Russian sage, and ‘Tiger Eyes’ sumac. Across the front and back yard, we tucked in deer-resistant plantings in little pockets to add texture, movement, and year-round visual interest.

We reused existing flagstone from the property, carefully resetting it and allowing ‘Grace Ward’ to naturally spill through the cracks and crevices. A section of the garden was refreshed with mulch, and a winding path of fir and hemlock bark now gently meander through the space.

Not shown: the backyard sunken wildflower garden

Always one of the best parts - watching it all settle in, grow in, and come alive over time. We can't wait to see this project develop and mature over the next few years🌿

Each planting plan and palette is thoughtfully tailored to its specific site conditions. This project, located in Bowser, was designed in collaboration with , a local native plant nursery, using selections based on their current inventory.

The site itself offers a diverse range of conditions: it is tiered, features a rock garden, includes raised garden beds, and sits close to the Salish Sea. The upper tier, with direct sunlight and a newly leveled, reduced lawn area intended for play, called for especially hardy plant selections. In contrast, the lower garden includes pockets of partial shade, allowing for a different mix of species. The rock garden has been designed with low-water plants that can thrive in coastal conditions, including exposure to salty ocean air. Not to mention everything is deer-resistant ;)

Our designer approaches each project with a focus on texture, movement, pops of color, and overall visual interest. Final touches and planting are scheduled for the end of next month, and we’re excited to share progress photos soon!
