I love copper repairs, and installations!
This copper is nearly 50 years old, and in really poor condition! Many older homes in cowichan valley still have their original 40+ year old copper waterlines, and much of it is still in really excellent condition!

New clients in Arbutus Ridge hired me to do a high quality installation, and they got the real deal!
Don’t let anyone tell you those new “press on” fittings are better than true soldered copper!

New clients on Shawnigan had a water pumping system for their entire home that had mass failure!
The pump was toast, and the pressure tank hadn’t been serviced in 15 years. We decided it’s best to replace it all. We installed new 40-60 pressure switch to add an extra 10 PSI to their water, and add a filtration and UV sterilization system.

This call came in Sunday night @ 9:30PM,
New client called, and stated that she was having a plumbing emergency! Their entire family was over visiting, and sewage was flowing out of downstairs laundry machine!
I directed her to stop using any water in the house, and that I’d be right over in about 20mins!
They had noticed a slow flushing toilet earlier in day, so they had already hired a septic tank pumping company to do a Sunday emergency septic tank pump out. They were told by the septic pumping guy to do some plunging on the toilets to get drains flowing better, so they had done some plunging and figured they were now in the clear!
Turned out the actual problem was that a baby wipe had been flushed, and gotten stuck in the septic pump, and finally it had cooked this electrical connection.
Another scenario where it was valuable for the clients hiring an electrician plumber!
I also found out with camera inspection tool that there was a major kink in the 4” main sewer line underground between house and tank causing the secondary intermittent blockage after the tank had been pumped.
I’ll post a video on that.

Sometimes client’s want the lowest bidder!!
That’s okay by me, but you won’t catch me lowering my price trying to compete with that lowest bidder.
It was a real treat for me to get a call back to property for a different issue year later, and get to see the work provided by the other guy LOL!! 😆
I wonder if an average person looks at this and can tell it’s not good??! Or is it just me who is really bothered by poor quality workmanship like this?

Had a call out to a local dairy farm. The farmer had noticed a significant drop in milk production, and the cows had been acting a funny. The farmer had done some research prior to calling, and wanted me to investigate if there was any form of ground fault current going on anywhere around the farm.
Cows and other hoofed animals, are particularly sensitive to ANY ground fault current, as they have hoofs that sink into the wet mud. I started my investigation at the main electrical service, checking for amperage on any of the bonding conductors coming in from the multiple sub-panels around the farm. I found ground current on one of the wires! I ended up following the current and tracing it all the way back to a sketchy storage shed outbuilding in the back of the farm, once I had panel cover removed found this dead rat cooking inside the panel causing all the trouble! Looked like he had been living inside the panel had made a bit of a nest, and one day stepped across the wrong spots and got electrocuted. No circuit breaker had ever tripped, I’m guessing the current flowing through the rat mummified the rat quite quickly, not sure what would of happened if this never got found, would he had dried out completely and stopped conducting, or would he have caught on fire?? Guess we will never know!
