One Year In.
A year ago, I sent myself a test email just to make sure my new business account was working.
Twelve months later, my inbox is no longer empty — and neither is my calendar.
This past year brought me from Halifax to Boston, Ontario, BC, and all through the Maritimes. I’ve had the privilege of connecting with clients, colleagues, and friends who’ve encouraged me, shared ideas, and made me laugh when I needed it most.
Here are just a few lessons from year one of self-employment:
• That first business deposit feels like winning the lottery.
• Mondays at Costco are not the productivity hack I hoped for.
• Always put more money in the parking metre than you think you'll need.
• And most of all…never underestimate the power of your network. The support, generosity, and encouragement I’ve received have been everything.
Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this first chapter. You’ve made it not only possible, but joyful.
Here’s to year two.
