Last weekend our members took part in two days of vehicle extrication training. We’d like to thank the Town of Delisle for allowing us to use the dump as a training space, the Town’s crew for moving the various vehicles we used in our scenarios into place, Pat Irvine for donating those vehicles, and Delisle Esso and Between the Buns for our lunches each of those two days. Lastly, we want to thank our volunteer members for giving even more of their precious time - in this case a huge chunk of a beautiful spring weekend - to improve their training in service to the community. Your dedication is greatly appreciated!

Training tonight - pumping, drafting and refilling using our “pools.” Many of the places we go don’t have fire hydrants, and having a sufficient supply of water is always a high priority.

Tomorrow afternoon we will be at the Co-op in Vanscoy to make you supper! Burgers and hotdogs 5-8:30, come out and support our department. We will also have candy bags for all your little soccer players! Weather permitting, we are hoping for sunshine!

The “slightly-less-than-glamourous” side of firefighting… After a big (or any…) fire, we clean hoses and allow them to dry before we “re-rack” them and put them back on our trucks. Keeping our hoses clean prolongs their service life, and prevents frequent (and costly) replacement. Sometimes, if we use enough hose, this HAS to be done when we get back to the hall - even late at night - and after a long time on scene fighting a fire…
