Upgrading to seismic standards doesn’t always mean starting from scratch.

When a university in the Lower Mainland needed to bring its library shelving up to current seismic requirements, staying on budget was a top priority.

Hi-Cube partnered with Spacesaver to design and manufacture welded seismic frames and gussets, allowing us to reuse the library’s existing shelves instead of replacing the entire system.

By upgrading only the frames, they saved tens of thousands in replacement costs while still meeting safety standards.

Using a phased approach over one year, our team:

• Dismantled existing shelving
• Removed and disposed of old frames
• Installed new seismic frames with existing shelves and end panels in a reconfigured layout
