Autonomy, sensors and software are changing the way boats are operated. But when an autopilot sends a steering command, that digital instruction still has to become physical movement.

The steering drive has to move the rudder—and it has to do it reliably under the actual load of the boat.

Michael brings 30 years of marine industry experience to the role, including a long history with Dock Edge and nearly a decade with CMP Group. Since joining CMP in 2016, he has held leadership roles across marketing, sales and commercial development, building strong relationships with customers and partners along the way.

As CEO, Michael will lead CMP’s next phase of growth with a continued focus on customer experience, quality, innovation and service—while strengthening collaboration across our teams and markets in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

October 1, 2026 marks a small anniversary for CMP Group: 20 years at Progress Way in Delta, BC. 🎉

Progress Way has been CMP’s head office location and home to our manufacturing operations since 2006. Before that, we were on Annacis Island, where we eventually needed more room — particularly a larger foundry space to accommodate our growing operations. So, we moved to Delta.

This archival video takes us back to the earlier years at Progress Way, and if you look closely, you might recognize some familiar faces.

A lot has changed since this video was made. Our products, technology and manufacturing capabilities have continued to evolve, along with our team. But Progress Way has been part of CMP for 20 years now — with a lot of work, growth and history along the way.

We’re heading to NMEA Conference & Expo 2026!

CMP Group will be at Booth 408 in Rockwall, Texas, with Ruari Macleod representing Octopus Autopilot Drive Systems and bringing some of the latest additions to the Octopus lineup.

Two of our new developments will be front and center:

⚙️ CRA G2 Constant Running Pump
The next generation of the Octopus CRA constant-running pump line, with a simplified lineup designed to make ordering, stocking and availability easier.

🔧 New Gear-Pump-Based Linear Drives
A new generation of Octopus hydraulic linear drives featuring gear-pump technology for significantly quieter operation, along with a simplified product offering and easier installation and servicing.

We will also have a selection of Octopus and Intellisteer products, product literature and samples on hand for a closer look.

We stopped by the Fall Marina Show at Hampton Cove this weekend, and it was great to see CMP brands represented throughout the show.

Seeing our products in use in our own backyard is a great reflection of the reach of our brands and the trust they’ve earned across the marine industry.

A great weekend for boating, and a great reminder of how connected the marine industry is right here in Vancouver. 🇨🇦
