With a post-secondary degree in economics and an ever-optimistic outlook of the world, Gene established a printing company with two partners in 1978 and continued to operate it for the next twenty-seven years. During that time Gene’s own personal journey became a search for authentic self and real meaning in life. It was as he addressed and confronted these questions that his journey deepened and
feelings of incompleteness and lack of fulfillment around business ownership became clear. Although continuing in that well worn position seemed respectable and responsible in the bigger picture of providing for a growing family, the realization that he was slowly drying up inside became overwhelming. An invitation to explore co-active life coaching became a pivotal turning point in his life. The coaching relationship gave Gene a safe, creative, inviting place to examine truth and illusion, and ultimately experience a break through into freedom and purposeful living. “I would be on a radically different road of life today if I had not discovered and engaged a life coach.”
Gene completed his coaching training and certification [CPCC] with The Coaches Training Institute, San Rafael, CA and is an active member of the International Coach Federation [ICF]. Creating a safe place for his clients to become fully aware of their limiting feelings and beliefs while releasing the courage to risk and dream about what could be, is the goal Gene holds for each coaching relationship. In addition to maintaining a personal coaching practice and volunteer coaching with young offenders through a local Youth Justice Committee, Gene facilitates True Colours Personality Styles Seminars. Gene enjoys rural Alberta life with his wife, Ila, and their four children.
