Lost your status in Canada? The restoration period might be your last chance to fix it.

In most cases, you have up to 90 days after losing your status to apply for restoration. But this is a strict process, and timing matters a lot.

During this period, you must meet the original conditions of your status and submit a complete application. You cannot work or study until approval.

If you’re in this situation, acting quickly is key. Book your appointment with Northia before things become more complicated.

PR card expired or lost while you’re outside Canada? Don’t panic, but don’t show up at the airport unprepared either.

If you’re flying back, you’ll need a PRTD (Permanent Resident Travel Document) to board. Without it, airlines won’t let you on the plane.

But here’s a detail many people miss: if you’re entering through a land border (like from the U.S.) in a private vehicle, you may still be able to enter as a PR. A CBSA officer will assess your status and can allow entry if everything checks out.

Different situations, different strategies. Book your appointment with Northia to plan your return the right way.

Got your PR in Canada? Don’t assume everything is automatic from here. There are a few key things you must understand to keep your status safe.

First, PR comes with a residency obligation, you need to accumulate at least 730 days in Canada within a 5-year period. Second, your PR card is just a travel document, not your actual status. Even if it expires, you don’t lose PR automatically, but you’ll need to prove you met the requirements when renewing.

And here’s something many people don’t know: time spent outside Canada can still count if you’re living with a Canadian citizen spouse or parent.

PR is just the beginning, the way you manage it matters. Book your appointment with Northia to stay on track and avoid surprises.

Got PR through a province and thinking about moving? Here’s the catch.

Yes, once you become a permanent resident, you have mobility rights under Canadian law, meaning you can live and work anywhere in the country. But if your PR came through a provincial nomination, your application was approved based on your genuine intention to live and work in that province.

That intention matters at the time of your application. If your situation changes later due to unforeseen circumstances, you do have the right to move, but it’s important that your original intent was legitimate.

Thinking about your next steps after PR? Book your appointment with Northia to make sure you’re making the right move.

A common question we get is whether the sponsor’s credit score affects a sponsorship application.

The simple answer is no, IRCC does not assess credit score as part of eligibility. However, financial stability still matters. Sponsors must show they can support the applicant and are not relying on social assistance (with some exceptions).

So while your credit score won’t decide the outcome, your overall financial situation still plays an important role.

Book your appointment with Northia to make sure your sponsorship file is properly prepared.

On May 28, 2026, IRCC held a new French-language Express Entry draw, issuing 4,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) with a CRS cut-off score of 409.

This was the largest French-language draw in recent weeks, slightly increasing from the previous rounds that issued 4,000 invitations each.

Although the CRS score rose compared to the last French draw, French-language categories continue standing out as one of the most accessible pathways under Express Entry in 2026, especially when compared to higher CEC cut-offs.

As Canada continues prioritizing Francophone immigration outside Quebec, French proficiency remains one of the strongest advantages for candidates looking to improve their immigration opportunities through Express Entry 👀

Applying for permanent residence and wondering if you need to declare children from previous relationships? The answer is yes, and it’s very important.

If you have dependent children, they must be included in your application, even if they are not accompanying you to Canada. Failing to declare them can have serious consequences, including losing the ability to sponsor them for permanent residence in the future.

This is one of the most common and costly mistakes we see, and it can be avoided with the right guidance.

If you’re unsure how to correctly include your family members in your application, send us a message. We’re here to help you get it right from the start.

Work experience is one of the most important components of an Express Entry profile, but also one of the most misunderstood.

It impacts your eligibility, CRS score, and even your chances in category-based draws. That’s why understanding how IRCC evaluates hours, NOC codes, and employment history is essential before submitting your profile.

From correct hour calculation to proper documentation and NOC selection, small mistakes can have a big impact on your outcome.

If you’re building or updating your Express Entry profile, strategy matters.

Book your appointment with Northia to review your work experience and strengthen your application.

A refusal doesn’t automatically ruin your future applications, but how you handle it makes all the difference.

If you’re reapplying for a temporary visa, that refusal stays on your record, and submitting the same information again will likely lead to the same result. The key is understanding why you were refused and properly addressing those issues before applying again.

For permanent residence, a previous refusal doesn’t make you ineligible. What matters is full transparency. You must declare all past refusals to avoid misrepresentation and keep your application strong.

Not sure how to move forward after a refusal? Book your appointment with Northia and get the right strategy for your case.
