We are pleased to be joining the Canadian Condominium Institute; Eastern Ontario Chapter for an important educational session on lithium-ion battery safety in condominium communities.

On November 18, 2026, Jason Reid of National Life Safety Group will lead a practical discussion focused on the growing risks associated with e-bikes, e-scooters and other micromobility devices, particularly where they are charged or stored within multi-residential buildings.

The session will explore:

• Common charging and storage hazards
• Warning signs that property teams and residents should recognize
• Practical considerations for boards and condominium managers
• How building-specific risk assessments can support safer policies and procedures
• Opportunities to strengthen Fire Safety Plans, resident education and emergency preparedness

Lithium-ion battery safety is becoming an increasingly important governance and risk-management issue for condominium communities. The objective is not to create fear, but to help boards and managers make informed, practical decisions that support safer buildings and stronger communities.

Every building has people who may not know the layout; Visitors. Contractors. New employees. Residents. Tenants. Members of the public.

During an emergency, those same people may need clear, simple information fast.

Wayfinding signage and evacuation diagrams help provide that information before it is needed, showing where people are, how to exit, what instructions apply, and who to contact during an emergency.

They are site-specific, easy to read, properly located, and aligned with the building’s fire safety and emergency procedures. If your posted emergency information is outdated, unclear, missing, or no longer reflects the building, it may be time for a review.
