The Drumheller and District Regional Landfill is a designated site for recycling your solar panels. Contact us about your eligible solar panels.

Solar power is growing. So is the need to plan for what happens to solar panels at the end of their useful life.

Estimates indicate Canada could see up to 800,000 tonnes of end-of-life solar panels by 2050.
Alberta is preparing for that future. With the launch of our Solar Panel Recycling Program, eligible end-of-life solar panels can now be collected and recycled through Alberta’s regulated recycling system.

By establishing Canada’s first formal solar recycling program, Alberta is laying the foundation for a local recycling industry and creating opportunities to attract investment, innovation, and recycling capacity to the province.

It’s an important step in keeping valuable materials in use and building a more circular economy.
