Farmers need our help. The diversity of small scale tree fruit farmers are at risk. We do not need more packing houses paving over viable agriculture land, often predatory and not interested in getting farmers a fair return or advocating for the farmer. We don't need thousands of acres of our food land going to export cherry or wine grapes. We need the small apple farmer, peach farmer and tree fruit farmer. If you want BC apples, BC peaches in your future now is the time to act.
Our farmers are the backbone of our food security. But their security is at risk with the closure of the BC Tree Fruit Co-Op. This was a breach of the Co-operative Act, and farmers need government intervention NOW.
