Aaaaand....we're off. Fall cleanup technically started last week, but we're full tilt for the next week and a half. Looking for a cleanup? The countdown is on. Autumn cleanup is underway. The team at Jen's Garden Solutions endeavors to perform gentle garden maintenance without the use of leaf blowers and by relocating creatures we encounter 🦎

I spent my Sunday bringing my tenders in from the porch and deck. Some things got repotted. Cuttings were taken. Good fun was had by all.

The evening temperatures are going to drop. Anything precious should soon come in or go under cover.

I can't believe we're at this stage in the season. It was a fab summer.

Spent much of the day digging goutweed out of what was to be a composting area. I should've known better. In removing a Norway maple a few years back, I didn't think I was sending out an invitation for another invasive species to move in. But apparently I was, and goutweed loves sun.. I removed the old compost cone and fence, and the pallets will also be coming out. There is no hope for any usable compost. Maybe I'll have space for a smaller tool shed in that corner, and use the other shed as a workshop.

Boxwood moth evidence.
Finding webs and dying branches?....this is one culprit. A good idea to plan for boxwood removal and replacement in the future.

Edging a planted area really sets it off. It's also a neighbourly thing to do when properties adjoin. Adding a little new mulch to top it up sets the mood for autumn.such a lovely property. It's a pleasure to be maintaining it.

It's time to think about cuttings from outdoor plants and bringing things indoors. This is my favourite Plectranthus and I love it as a house plant. It starts easily in water. I also needed to start more Pothos. Unfortunately I quickly run out of window space, or I'd have a lot more on the go. I will start to edge my Rosemary indoors. Two cuttings I took earlier are growing and going into a pot of their own today.

I am the volunteer coordinator for our local community garden. We host 8 raised private beds, a fruit guild and veg beds for produce we give away on Saturday mornings or donate to the food bank. We're year 3 on the new site.
