HSBC has dropped its five-year fixed mortgage rate to 1.99 per cent, the lowest ever, though the rate is for default-insured mortgages only, according to mortgage comparison site RateSpy.com. The uninsured five-year fixed rate is roughly 2.29 per cent.

Ending homelessness has been an ongoing goal for the city. The report said Edmonton needs to increase its supply of permanent supportive housing by 900 units by 2024 but requires an immediate need to house nearly 500 homeless people who have mental health and physical health issues.
