Welcome back everyone! We are kicking off the start of the semester with Spring Rock VIU 2021: Weeks of Welcome - your opportunity to vritually explore the campus, meet your faculty and build new connections with your peers.

Then on January 22 and 23, new students can connect with peer mentors through the Beach Fire Chats – your chance to ask questions and connect with one another. International students: if you have been affected by while in Canada and hold or held a post-graduation work permit (PGWP), you will now have the opportunity to apply for another open work permit.

On January 27, 2021, foreign nationals in Canada with an expired or expiring PGWP will have a one-time opportunity to apply for another open work permit with a duration of 18 months. Applications will be accepted until July 27, 2021.

International students: The list of designated learning institutions with approved readiness plans has been updated.

Remember that you must be studying at one of the approved DLIs to be able to travel to Canada. If your DLI isn’t included, you can’t travel to Canada to study at this time.

If you try to travel to Canada when your DLI isn’t included, you may not be allowed to board your flight or you may be turned away at the port of entry.
