She emailed me looking for help with her PR plans. We worked on her profile, submitted her application through Express Entry - Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and not long after, she received her ITA.

Now she’s officially a Canadian Permanent Resident, and she came all the way from Fort St. John, BC to say hello!

Her profile was strong, she had over 1 year skilled foreign work experience, CLB 9+ in all language abilities, 2 years education as an international student, and a good Canadian employer that allowed her to gain the right work experience. Her strong CRS score allowed her to receive her ITA right away.

It’s a good example of why I always tell people: don’t wait until you think you’re “ready” for PR. Start by understanding your profile and what you can do to make it stronger.

Every journey is different, and the right combination of education, work experience and language scores can make a BIG difference.

As we wrap up August, we’re taking a moment to appreciate just how many good news calls and emails came our way this month.

This has been our best month for approvals since we started 5 years ago, with clients receiving approvals for PR through spousal sponsorship, Express Entry and PNPs, as well as work permits from inside and outside Canada and visitor visas.

Every approval means something different to each client. A family being reunited, someone finally getting their PR, a work permit allowing them to continue their plans in Canada, or simply being able to visit loved ones.

We’re grateful for every client who trusted us with such an important part of their journey.

If you were born outside Canada and one of your parents was a Canadian citizen when you were born, you may be eligible for a Proof of Canadian Citizenship.

Before applying for PR or another immigration pathway, check your citizenship eligibility first—you may already have a claim to Canadian citizenship! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

• You can only work in Canada as an international student if your study permit conditions say you can.
• If you are eligible to work off campus, you can only work up to 24 hours per week while classes are in session.
• Working more than you are allowed is a violation of your study permit conditions, which can have serious consequences.

The latest CEC draw invited 1,000 candidates, with a CRS cut-off of 523. That’s quite a jump from the previous CEC draw at 516!

If your score is below 523, don’t panic, and don’t just sit and wait for the score to drop. This is the time to look at what you can improve.

💡 A few things to consider:
✔️ Retake your language test—higher scores can make a difference.
✔️ Look at gaining additional eligible Canadian work experience.
✔️ Consider learning French.
✔️ Check if you qualify for a PNP or another Express Entry category.
✔️ Review your profile regularly and make sure you’re getting every point you’re actually eligible for.

The number of invitations can affect the CRS cut-off, so things can change from draw to draw.

If you’re sitting at 480, 500, 510 or 520 and feeling discouraged, don’t assume your PR journey is over. Sometimes the better question isn’t “When will the CRS come down?” but “What can I do to make my profile stronger?”

Finally, after five long years. ❤️

Your language score matters more than you think!

Whether you’re applying through Express Entry or a PNP pathway, the right CELPIP or IELTS score can affect your eligibility, and a higher score may open more PR opportunities.

Know your target score. Prepare. Practice. And don’t forget to take advantage of the FREE study resources available online!
