🎉 Reconsideration Success! A Refusal Reversed and a 2-Year Work Permit Granted! 🇨🇦

One of those files that reminds us why persistence and attention to detail matter. 🙌

Our client’s Francophone Mobility Work Permit application was submitted in December 2025.

In February 2026, the application was refused — however, the refusal letter quoted requirements that corresponded to a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) rather than the requirements applicable to the Francophone Mobility Work Permit.

We carefully reviewed the refusal and believed there were clear grounds for reconsideration.

Our office submitted a reconsideration request through the IRCC webform and also sent the request directly by mail to the Edmonton office.

Then came the difficult part: seven months of silence. ⏳

And yesterday, we finally received the letter we had been waiting for. IRCC confirmed that they would reopen the application because there were grounds to do so. 🎯

Absolutely shocking — but such incredible news! ❤️

And today, the best possible update arrived:

✅ The work permit was approved
✅ Validity: 2 years
✅ Francophone Mobility Work Permit

This case is a great reminder that a refusal is not necessarily the end of the road. When there are genuine grounds for reconsideration, a carefully prepared request supported by the facts and applicable program requirements can make a significant difference.

A long seven-month wait — but worth every minute. 🇨🇦✨

⏰ TFWP Work Permit Grace Period Extended: 60 → 90 Days! Effective Date: August 21, 2026

The grace period for certain Temporary Foreign Workers applying for a work permit while their employer’s LMIA application is still being processed has been extended.

🔹 Previously: 60 days
🔹 Now: 90 days ✅

This extension gives eligible workers additional time to submit their work permit application without having to wait for the positive LMIA to be issued.

If your employer has an LMIA application in process, this 90-day extension could be very important for your work permit strategy.

🚨 TR to PR Update (Canada 2026)

IRCC has confirmed that around 20,000 temporary workers in Canada will receive permanent residence in 2026, with more expected in 2027.

⚠️ However, this is not a new open TR to PR pathway — it’s a targeted effort focused on applicants already in the system.

As part of this initiative, IRCC is accelerating PR applications already in progress for workers who:
• Applied through programs like PNP, Atlantic Immigration Program, community pilots, caregiver pilots, or Agri-Food Pilot
• Have been living and working in smaller or rural communities for 2+ years

These workers are already supporting local labour shortages and economies.

For many who have been waiting for a new TR to PR pathway, this update will understandably feel disappointing.

💡 What this means:
• No new public pathway (for now)
• Limited and highly targeted selection
• Focus on existing applicants

TR to PR for 33,000 applicants is officially launched!

According to the Immigration Minister, the new TR to PR pathway has been announced, and more details should be released in April. It’s a good idea to review the article and start preparing documents now, in case the program opens on a first-come, first-served basis like the TR to PR program in 2021.

🎉 Another PR Success Story (Express Entry - Canadian Experience Class) 🇨🇦

After nearly 2 years of waiting, our client has finally received their eCOPR!

This file was particularly complex due to extensive police and military background history, which resulted in prolonged background checks. Security screenings in such cases can take significantly longer, and unfortunately, there is no standard processing timeline once a file enters this stage.

Throughout this process, we:
✔️ Submitted numerous webforms to follow up
✔️ Carefully monitored the application status
✔️ Engaged the local MP’s office for assistance
✔️ Provided additional documentation whenever requested
