The tally is in from the BNI Alberta North Charity Golf Tournament presented by Output.

The community came together for this tournament to help 7 of our member charities and we were able to blow past the goal of $15,000 and ended up raising $17,038!!

"The Voice of Albertans with disabilities actively promotes full participation in society and provides a voice for Albertans with disabilities through our guiding principles of full participation, accessibility and equality. Since 1973, Voice of Albertans with Disabilities has been a provincial, cross disability organization of individuals with disabilities and we are dedicated to improving the quality of life of people with disabilities through our efforts, services and programs. Over the years we have consulted and collaborated with like-minded organizations on many important projects that impact the daily lives of individuals with disabilities.

BNI Alberta North has been an incredible resource for both us as an organization and to clients. We are able to direct the people we work with to BNI members with confidence because that trust has been built and we know that the members will treat our clients with the respect and care that they deserve but, unfortunately, is so often not afforded to them because of stigma and misconceptions. It has also been a huge opportunity for us to educate business owners on the value of accessibility, equality and full participation for people with disabilities and to be a resource to the BNI members when looking to improve their accessibility for people with disabilities."

BNI Alberta North Charity Golf Tournament Presented by Output: Charity Member Feature 4

Edmonton Valley Zoo Development Society

"OUR MISSION
The Valley Zoo Development Society’s (VZDS) mission is to raise funds and promote awareness to ensure the continued development of the Edmonton Valley Zoo, and its education and conservation programs. This is achieved through the events and various programs that the VZDS runs throughout the year. Currently, there are three fundraising events that the VZDS organizes including Zoobrew and Zoominescence. Programs that the Valley Zoo Development Society runs include the Adopt an Animal Program. Adopt An Exhibit, Pay It Forward for the Planet, and Zoobuilders.
Each year the Valley Zoo Development Society donates thousands to the Edmonton Valley Zoo for development and continual improvement. Past projects that the VZDS has contributed to include the elephant house, the red panda exhibit, the lemur habitat, upgrades to the Zoo Veterinary Clinic, and upgrades to the big horned sheep exhibit. The VZDS also donates money to various charities including the International Elephant Foundation and Snow Leopard Trust. Recently the VZDS has committed to raising over $9 million dollars to fund the Natures Wild Back Yard portion of the Valley Zoo Revitalization project.

OUR HISTORY
The Valley Zoo Development Society (VZDS) is a registered charity and not-for-profit that was started in 1988. The VZDS acts in partnership with the City of Edmonton to ensure the continued development of the beloved Edmonton Valley Zoo. Owned and operated by the City of Edmonton, the Valley Zoo is currently home to over 350 animals and more than 100 species. The Valley Zoo has grown significantly since it opened in 1959, as The Storyland Valley Zoo, in its current location in Laurier Park. Once a 5-acre petting zoo, the Valley Zoo is now an educational facility, which contributes to the conservation of global biodiversity through its participation in the Species Survival Program (SSP)."

Big Sisters Big Brothers of Grande Prairie & Area

"Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grande Prairie & Area is part of Canada’s largest mentoring organizations! At-risk children and youth are matched to a caring, and consistent mentor. Together, the youth and their mentor spend 4-8 hours a month together, spending time getting to know each other, and becoming lifelong friends.. Through the power of mentorship, mentees gain independence, school readiness, build social and emotional skills, as well as get to have fun!
 
Big Brothers Big Sisters is on the frontline in society’s single greatest unaddressed medical issue- Childhood Trauma.
 
Help us help future generations of youth, to overcome adversity!"

"Berkeley’s Place is an animal rescue support network honoring pets and our relationship with them. Many people are unaware of the many organizations helping animals in need. Through education and awareness, we hope to bridge that gap.
 
Berkeley’s Place FEADS animal rescue through Fundraising, Education, Advocacy, Donations and Support. 
 
A percentage of donations are set aside for our emergency fund which provides assistance to families displaced with companion animals during personal tragedies.
 
BNI has helped to bring awareness to our platform and connected us with the most extraordinary individuals and businesses and we are beyond grateful for the gift of networking, learning and relationship building."

BNI is a global networking group that has been around for almost 40 years! BNI Alberta North (the Edmonton and Northern Alberta operation of BNI Global) is hosting their annual charity golf tournament for the Edmonton area and Output is proud to be this years title sponsor!

In addition to providing an opportunity for networking, the BNI Charity Golf Classic is also a fundraiser for our 7 member charities. Keep an eye out for our posts over the next couple weeks as we highlight those member charities!
