The term “postpartum” isn’t short for postpartum depression.

Postpartum means after birth.
That’s it. That’s the definition.

It does not automatically mean:
• something is wrong
• someone is failing
• there is a problem to manage

Postpartum depression and anxiety are real and serious.
They deserve attention, resources, and support.
But they are not the default setting.

Postpartum is also:
• healing
• bleeding
• feeding
• not sleeping
• learning a brand-new body and a brand-new life

Woman don’t need support only when they’re struggling.
They need support because they just gave birth.

Normalize postpartum care.
Not just postpartum crisis.

Doula-ing for a friend changed me in ways I didn’t expect.

I didn’t know how much this work would grow our friendship, or how deeply it would shape how I show up for families.

Sara reminded me that while nourishing food, loving baby care, and practical support matter so much — emotional support is just as powerful. Being present, listening, holding space… that’s where so much of the healing lives.

I’m endlessly grateful for the trust, the conversations, and the reminder of why I do this work.

Thank you, Sara.

It was such an honour to walk alongside Taylor in her postpartum. Supporting another doula is something I don’t take lightly, and I’m so grateful to have been invited into her home and her heart during this season. Taylor, you are a warrior Mama through and through, and I’m so proud of you.

I’ll always hold close the little moments with your three—baking with James, reading with Jilly, and those sweet snuggles with baby Josie. Adding a third baby is no small thing, and you’ve met it with so much strength and love. You and your family are deeply in my heart.

With love,

Your Postpartum Doula, Karmen 💜

Supporting Amanda’s family during their fourth trimester was such a joy. It was especially sweet to spend quiet moments with the older kids before school, listening to their stories and seeing the way they each loved on their new sibling.

Between sharing meals, tidying up their space, and simply being present, it was an honour to care for this growing family in such a tender season.

Thank you for your kind words, Amanda!

I often get the question: “What if I just want to hold my baby?”

The answer? Of course you can—snuggle them, breathe them in, and soak in every moment. And you can still have postpartum doula support.

Yes, I would love to hold, snuggle, and love on your newborn if that’s what you need. But I don’t have to. My role isn’t just about baby care—it’s about supporting you and your family in ways that make those early days feel smoother, more nourished, and less overwhelming.

That might look like:

*Cooking you a warm, healing meal
*Sitting with you as you process your birth and navigate all the changes in postpartum
*Folding laundry while you bond with your baby
*Running a bath so you can have a moment to yourself
*Keeping your water bottle full and your snacks within reach

No matter how you want to spend these early days, you don’t have to do it alone.

Supporting Katy and her family was such a joy! From long chats to toddler giggles and making life a little easier in those early days, every moment spent with them was so special. Even on those ridiculously hot July and August days when we questioned all our life choices without AC! 🥵🤣

I'm so grateful to stay in touch and see their family continue to grow - what an honor to be part of their journey.

You Deserve Support, No Matter Your Budget.

I know hiring a postpartum doula can feel like a big investment. You might be wondering if it’s something you can afford—or if you “really” need it.

But here’s the truth: postpartum support isn’t a luxury. It’s care, rest, nourishment, and reassurance in one of the most tender times of your life. And you deserve that.

Ways to Make Doula Support More Affordable:
✨ Book early! Many families hire me in early pregnancy and make small payments over time, making it more manageable.
✨ Check your health benefits. Some insurance plans cover a portion of doula support—it's worth looking into!
✨ Add doula care to your registry. Friends & family love to contribute to meaningful gifts.
✨ Prioritize support over baby gear. Babies don’t need much, but you need rest, nourishment, and care.

There’s no one “right” way to make postpartum support work for your family, but I’m happy to help you find an option that feels good for you.

Your well-being matters just as much as your baby’s. Let’s find a way to get you the care you deserve.

The Benefits of Postpartum Support

Did you know that having postpartum support can make a huge difference in your recovery and transition into parenthood?

Research shows that parents who receive postpartum care experience:*

💜 Lower rates of postpartum mood disorders like anxiety and depression. Emotional support during this time can be life-changing!

💜 Higher breastfeeding success rates—with someone by your side to offer guidance, encouragement, and practical help, feeding your baby becomes less stressful.

💜 More confidence in parenting skills—whether it’s learning how to soothe your newborn, establish a routine, or just feeling more sure in your role, having someone experienced to lean on helps build that confidence.

💜 Deeper bonds between parents and infants—when you have the support you need, it frees you up to focus on those precious early moments, building a stronger connection with your baby.

I’m here to support you through this incredible but sometimes overwhelming journey. Let’s make sure you’re getting the care you need so you can thrive! 💖
