The term “postpartum” isn’t short for postpartum depression.
Postpartum means after birth.
That’s it. That’s the definition.
It does not automatically mean:
• something is wrong
• someone is failing
• there is a problem to manage
Postpartum depression and anxiety are real and serious.
They deserve attention, resources, and support.
But they are not the default setting.
Postpartum is also:
• healing
• bleeding
• feeding
• not sleeping
• learning a brand-new body and a brand-new life
Woman don’t need support only when they’re struggling.
They need support because they just gave birth.
Normalize postpartum care.
Not just postpartum crisis.
