This episode is a little closer to my heart, and I wanted to share what I have learnt from this time.

I went to see a friend who is in the final stages of cancer. As I was sitting with his wife, one of things she discussed with me was how much time her husband had spent worrying about the world, the pandemic and other things.

It occurred to both of us how much time was wasted worrying about the things we cannot control. I'm not suggesting we bury our heads in the sand, but I am saying that the time we spend giving our energy to, we will never get back. We can control our thoughts and over time, practise more and more positive thoughts.

We have noticed that there are many people that have allowed the pandemic, politics and other world events to consume their thoughts to the point where they are finding themselves depressed, anxious and constantly worried about what will happen next.

Our response is to remind them that it's good to be informed but that they must not give too much of their energy or thoughts into something they cannot control. As humans when we feel no sense of control it is easy to fall into the position of victim, feeling hopeless and allowing other negative emotions to take control of us.

We would suggest instead to focus on what can be controlled. How we want to show up in the world, who we want to spend our time with, what we may want to learn, taking a walk in nature and so many other options. When we take control, we are summoning our inner strength and are able to move forward with courage.

That courage sounds a lot more empowering than the alternative. Be strong out there, protect your thoughts and reach out for help if you need support. We are here.

This shot from the walkway at the Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge, Autograph Collection reminds us that everyone has a different perspective. Not one is better than the other, nor right or wrong... they are just different.

It was great to see a group of leaders, lend their perspectives and experiences to solve business challenges and to plan to propel their business forward.

Imagine how boring live and business would be if we all had the identical perspective. We wonder what would get solved?

What's your perspective on this topic? :)

What a gorgeous view to wake up to!

Our environment contributes a lot to our feeling of wellbeing. It can impact our mood, influence our motivation, encourage or discourage interactions with others and it can either be a source of stress or a source of renewal.

If you find yourself struggling, may we suggest that you evaluate your personal and work spaces to ensure that you have made it most conducive to your wellbeing.

Connecting with nature is always a great way to renew your energy... so get outdoors if you can.

Ready to kick off day 1 of a 2.5 day retreat!

Working with the Executive Team today on alignment and long term strategy and then with the extended leadership team the next couple days to bring the vision to reality.

Using one of the smaller conference rooms today Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge, Autograph Collection to host our conversation. Beautiful resort with a majestic mountain backdrop.

If you have not yet taken the time to plan how you are going to wrap up this quarter, conquer next quarter or climb the mountain for the years to come, may I suggest you do. 'If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail'~ Benjamin Franklin and also remember, a plan without action is useless.

So make your plans, engage your team and then empower them to go get it done. We are here if you need some help.

As a leader, the influence and impact we carry with us is heavily influenced by the relationships we build and maintain with all the people within the organisation, this includes people outside such as partners, suppliers, etc.

Nurturing these relationships is a key point in being an effective leader, having the right influence and being heard when it comes to crunch time.

This is a great quote and one we often talk about to change our mindset. If we see obstacles as challenges and something to conquer to move forward, then they are much easier to overcome and we are more resilient.

But when we give them extra power and believe they are in surmountable... they will be.

Don't give your power away, don't waste your energy on worry, anxiety or frustration. Instead focus on the prize and what it is going to mean to you once you get it.

You got this! We're always here if you need support!

We have been spending a lot of time this week designing the last class and graduation for a 8 month course we have been facilitating for an incredible organization that highly invests in their leaders.

It's important for us to recognize all the hard work and contributions made by this class. Due to COVID we have had to do everything on-line so we are super stoked about this last session being in person. It will be incredible to finally meet this group of new leaders and to witness the connections they have made over this time.

If you are looking to build the strength of your team, we would love the opportunity to work with you and your group.

If you have any tips for us to create this extra special experience we are all for that too! Please post below.

Super excited to be planning a retreat!

We are so excited to not only be back delivering in person, but planning retreats again. There is nothing better than finding a beautiful location like the Kananaskis Lodge and then planning a 3 day experience for a wonderful group of people. Have we told you how much we love what we do!!!

What is most magical about retreats is that the extra time allows for people to connect at a deeper level and to share an experience together that will remain in the fabric of their lives.

What was the last retreat you were at?

Strategy is the actionable part of achieving any goal.

When we have a goal but we don't develop the strategy or process in which we will achieve that goal we can easily be distracted by 'shiny ball syndrome' or get caught responding to the 'squeaky wheel' instead of being focused on where we want to go.

For example, if we want to lose weight we have to decide which of the following strategies we want to deploy - more exercise, less calorie intake, change of diet, etc. We may even choose to use multiple strategies together. The key is to understand that without a strategy we won't achieve our goals or at least we won't achieve them as quickly as possible.

The same applies to business and leadership, if we don't develop strategies to get us to our goals, we're unlikely to take the committed action we need to achieve desired results. So if you are not getting to where you want to go, ask yourself... do I have a strategy? Or do I have a good intention with no follow through?

As a new week kicks off, we've been asking ourselves how we will empower our team and clients around us to take the next step. How we will enable them to reach for something they never have before?

As leaders it is our commitment to the development of others that calls on us to create moments where we can encourage others to Shine. But this doesn't happen by accident. It takes conscious effort and investment in others to make this happen.

So as we start the week, may we encourage you to look for opportunities where you can enable and empower others to greatness. Let us know how you make out.

How do you break bad habits that no longer serve us? And more importantly how do we replace these habits with ones that serve us.

Well what if we think of the same goal but in a different way? Instead of only focussing on the goal and the process - hence requiring willpower alone. We could use our sense of identity instead.

I'll give you an example, instead of saying "I need to lose 10lbs for my health" which means using willpower... using our identity it would be saying "I am a healthy person", and as you start to align more and more with this mindset, with time you'll no longer need willpower as it will be part of your psyche.
