13 years ago, when Royal Studio began, I never could have imagined what it would grow into today. Along the way, I’ve built some of the most important relationships of my life. I want to take a moment to say thank you:
Mom and Dad: You let us turn your living room into a recording studio. Scott and I eventually moved the studio out of the house 7 years later—not just because it was getting so busy, but because we knew Mom needed to sleep! I love you both so much for your constant support.
Scott: You’re part of the studio’s very foundation. Will never forget the early years—teaching music lessons to pay rent, late nights working with artists, and heading to full-time jobs the next morning. Your belief in the power of meaningful connections is still one of the biggest reasons artists return to Royal Studio year after year.
Julie: When I asked if I should quit my job to go full-time at Royal, you said, “Sure!” without hesitation. Your love and support make this life possible. I love you.❤️
Philip Muz: My main dude. Since I started mixing sound at the Artery in 2014, we’ve been working together, and our friendship has become so important to me. Your encouragement has helped me push through the tough times. You’ve also taught me how to love the Edmonton music scene.
Andrea Shipka: Thank you for the nomination and for letting me be part of your creative world. You’re the best!
Royal Studio Team: To the amazing engineers who work alongside me—this wouldn’t be possible without you. Your dedication helps Edmonton’s music scene thrive.
To every artist who has walked through the doors: Thank you for inviting me into your creative space, a space I hold with spiritual reverence. You’re all part of my story, and the end of each session feels like saying goodbye to summer camp—sad it’s over, but knowing we’ll see eachother again.
Edmonton Arts Council: Thank you for supporting the creative spirit of this city.
Here’s to more growth, more music, and more memories. ❤️
