Wry Method

Wry Method I'm a crafter at heart. My latest obsession is working with leather. I'm looking forward to future custom projects for myself and others. Hi!

I'm Ryan, and welcome to my page. I've loved making things with my hands for as long as I can remember. Crafting is a huge part in my life. It helps me focus, calms me down when I'm feeling stressed, and gives me the ability to make very personal items for the people in my life. Leather is just the latest medium I have worked with. If you are in the market for a custom made journal, knife case or

anything else, please contact me either through Facebook or my Etsy page! https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/WryMethod
Thanks for stopping by!

Hey all! I'm still here, still alive and kickin'. What a year!

This time last year, I was not in a good place. Life was falling apart, and I was on the verge of having to make some very difficult decisions. A couple months later, I followed through and had to hit the big red reset button in order to salvage the tatters that was my mental health at the time. Transitioning from one home and employer to another at the same time was one of the most exhausting things I've ever undertaken, especially with the huge learning curves that came from the new job and being on my own again.

However, I refused to let this experience sink me further. I used it as an opportunity to grow! I spent most of my summer reaching out and reconnecting with my friends and family. I have been focusing on enjoying time at home. Having my kitty (Badger) back has been awesome. I've been getting back into the kitchen, exploring new music, making plans and being more social when I go out. I started being silly at work, opening up and being myself again!

I'm a big believer that time heals all wounds, to a degree. Being patient through the process and not rushing out to find things to bring me temporary happiness has done wonders in terms of how I feel day to day.

Keep your collective chins up, folks. The whole world might be a chaotic mess, but if you work towards your goals, you'll get there. You just have to be patient 😊

Here's to 2025 continuing to help us all learn and grow, as individuals and as a society. We are all stuck on this rock together. Might as well be kind to each other

The incense holder in the photo was the first one I made, a few years ago. It has held many boxes of incense over the years, and still looks perfect, even when I'm lazy and haven't cleaned it out

Just to test out the local market, I posted my Leatherman Wave sheaths on Facebook Marketplace about a day and a half ago. The ad has gotten almost 3000 clicks already! I made a couple sales yesterday and learned about some awesome handmade granny gloves from a guy who bought one.

I ship worldwide, or do local pickup. Contact me if you want to get yours!

I'm trying to get back into the swing of things after a couple of moves. It's not been the easiest the last little while, but I'm a firm believer that the universe will take care of you if you're patient, and it seems to have finally gifted us with some calmness and stability. In a great home space, and starting a new gig next week should lead to new opportunities popping up for me.
I've got a website in the works, ideas galore and possibilities for future markets. This is me letting all of you know I'm still here and making things! More to come soon!

This was one of my very first welding projects from back in high school. It's supposed to look like a log embedded with an axe. I was not the most experienced welder at the time (several weeks of experience by this point in my life), but I had a lot of fun making my axe way bigger and sharper than it needed to or was supposed to be. This sparked an interest in metalworking as an art form. My shop teacher in high school gave me several fun special projects throughout the year because he saw I had an artistic eye

We spent a lot of time trying to make our little makeshift corner store as unique and welcoming as possible within the confines of our space. We've got a walkthrough with carpet, music and plenty of great conversations to be had! We put an emphasis on using products from the land (leather, foraging ingredients) and even celebrated Earth Day by handing out sprouts!

We've met some great people, gotten fantastic feedback on our booth setup, and are feeling great about how well we work as a team, both in a market and home environment. I feel so blessed to have such a fantastic partner to work with me on all the fun - and troubleshooting - that goes into being a market vendor, while still having fun with the everyday things ❤️

Come out to after February 20th if you want to check out some of my leatherworking wares! I will be joining a community of makers on Whyte Ave in Edmonton who fill the shelves at the Old Strathcona Arts Emporium. It's not your standard multi-vendor market space. It's got a really different look and feel, and I'm excited to be a part of it!

New knife sheath custom made for a huge, serrated bush knife that had destroyed the old case. Made of a combination of cow hide and Italian calf skin, this sheath boasts a full welt and an adjustable leg strap for securing this massive case when it's being used. Not sure what kind of stone I set in it, but the dinosaur represents something special to the special person I made this for.

Easily the coolest sheath in my making history, I'm really excited about how this one turned out. I'll post some better pictures in the future

Made for .apothecary
to help out with her foraging!
