Late but we are here... OH CANADA EH!!!
Canada has made some major changes to it's TFW program over the past weeks, specifically targeting the low wage categories. Some industries, such as the food chains, have been accused of only hiring their ethnic group and, not necessarily those who are new immigrants in Canada, but foreigners who are outside the country! The number of TFW an employer can bring to their work force has been reduced to 10% down from 20% of staffing. What does this mean for the low wage category? As it has been tabled in the past, it will be brought up again. Most of these low wage jobs are jobs that majority of Canadians do not want to do! This issue came about back in 2014 and it is at our doorsteps again.
Visitors currently in the country can no longer apply for the work permit from inside Canada, they must exit the country and apply from outside. Flag poling has become way to risky. I simply do not advise my clients to engage in this activity.
