Footprints Eco Consulting Reducing our carbon “Footprints” one green space at a time. All the while achieving sustainability.

“It is a fact that we, as a species, are happier and healthier when we are surrounded by green spaces. I intend to help people be healthier and happier, one green space at a time.”

Footprints Eco Consulting is an Alberta based company that feels it is imperative to reduce our carbon “Footprints”. Kimberly Fulton, Founder of Footprints Eco Consulting brings over 10 years experience helping compan

ies green their office space with furniture and product ideas, and a lifetime of nurturing our environment

Environmental stability is the key and Footprints Eco Consulting’s view is that, if we cannot protect the planet on both a local scale and a global scale, then there is little else that matters.

* biodiversity is being lost on a massive scale
* extinctions are happening at an unprecedented rate
* old growth forest is being destroyed
* we waste billions of gallons of water
* our landfills are over flowing
* our air quality is decreasing daily
* we draw more energy than we use

Footprints Eco Consulting is working hard on projects to help guide people to a more sustainable future. By reaching out with hands-on education in our homes, communities, and businesses, Footprints Eco Consulting is helping all of us reduce our carbon “Footprints”, increase efficiency, and save money.

Great observations from Jeff!

The end of growth. Jeff Rubin joins me to talk about his new book. It has a scary title but an optimistic outlook.

First, we need to bring climate change back to the forefront of the national conversation, and second, we need to take action.

Hurricane Sandy caused immense damage across the Northeast, hitting several coastal wildlife refuges as well as many cities and towns. As we survey the damage and begin to rebuild, many are asking the question: is this the cost of climate silence? Our president and CEO has more at http://dfnd.us/YvqcSs

Rubin: Environmentalists are going to go: “Look, I’m not going to just bet our planet’s future on your economic forecast” and that’s a perfectly legitimate thing to say. But I’m saying hey, this ain’t a forecast anymore. Look around.

They certainly seem like an odd couple. Environmentalist David Suzuki, who has said conventional economics is “a form of brain damage,” is on a cross-country speaking tour with Jeff Rubin, the former chief economist of CIBC World Markets.

Something worth celebrating!

These young naturalists had a vision where each new generation would be able explore shorelines and wetlands, wide-open prairies and vast forests. A vision for a place where wildlife could thrive. A vision that led them to found theNature Conservancy of Canada(NCC) on November 28, 1962.

Eco Tip of the Week… Trade antibacterial cleaners for a homemade cleaning potion!

Not only do bacteria boost your immune system, but some bacteria can actually benefit the environment. Antibacterial ingredients, such as triclosan, have been found in 58 per cent of our streams. Mix your own cleaning potion with one part vinegar to one part water. Can’t stand your home smelling like vinegar? A few of drops of lavender or rosehip essential oil should mask the scent!

Sustainably yours,
Kimberly

Come on Canada, if they can do it, we surely can!

September was tied for the hottest of any September on record globally. It was also a very hot month for renewable energy in the U.S. According to figures from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, wind and solar accounted for all the electricity capacity added in September. The projects consist...

In short, the Prime Minister’s goal of six million barrels of oil a day from the oil sands is driving our foreign policy, our trade policy, has undermined our global climate commitments, is eviscerating our scientific capacity and is skewing our economy to one product at the expense of others.

The benefits aren’t as apparent. Some short-term and fewer long-term jobs, possibly for foreign workers, and increased profits for the oil industry – including state-owned Chinese companies – are all we’re being offered in exchange for giving up our resources, interests and future, putting ecosystems at risk, and forfeiting due democratic process.

Eco Tip of the Week... Make Your Own Face Paint for Halloween!

This tip was too good not to share!

Sustainably yours,
Kimberly

The scariest thing you will see this Halloween won’t be the little ghosts and goblins knocking at your door. It will most likely be in the costume section of your nearby department or drug store.
