๐จ HEALTH CARE AIDES IN ALBERTA: IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR AOS APPLICANTS ๐จ
Are you working as a Health Care Aide (NOC 33102) in Alberta and planning to apply under the Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS)?
Hereโs what you need to know:
โ
Health Care Aides are now a regulated profession in Alberta.
โ
As of February 2, 2026, Health Care Aides must be registered and hold a valid practice permit through the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA).
โ
If your occupation requires registration or licensing, AAIP may require you to meet those requirements when assessing your Alberta Opportunity Stream application.
โ ๏ธ Many applicants are asking whether they can still use work experience gained before registration became mandatory.
In some cases, work experience obtained before the mandatory registration requirement came into effect may still be considered, provided the work was authorized and met the applicable requirements at that time. However, each case is unique and should be assessed carefully.
๐ If you are an HCA and considering applying under AOS, it is important to review:
โข Your Alberta registration status
โข Your work permit status
โข Your language test results
โข Your qualifying work experience
โข Your overall AAIP eligibility
Before submitting your application, ensure you understand how the new HCA regulatory requirements may impact your immigration pathway.
