At HERizon Rx, we believe there’s real value in bringing women in pharmacy together to share experiences, ask questions and learn from one another.

It’s about hearing from people who have navigated decisions you may be facing, learning something you hadn’t considered, and meeting others who understand the opportunities and challenges of building a career or business in pharmacy.

And often, the value extends beyond the event itself. A conversation can lead to a new perspective, a helpful connection or an idea worth exploring.

“You really don’t know what to ask if you don’t know what you should know.”

That was one of the observations shared during the HERizon Rx Insight Board, and it captures an important challenge for pharmacists considering entrepreneurship.

Pharmacy education prepares us to be excellent clinicians. Business ownership asks for a different set of skills, and participants told us that many of those skills aren’t necessarily part of the traditional pharmacy training experience.

They pointed to areas such as:
• Financial literacy
• Forecasting and budgeting
• Reading financial statements
• Human resources
• Legal structures and contracts
• Negotiation
• Business planning
• Managing and growing a business

For many, these were skills they learned through experience, self-directed learning and, sometimes, trial and error.

The opportunity is to build on the strong clinical foundation pharmacists already have while making the business side of ownership more accessible to learn.

Knowing that you want to explore ownership is one thing. Knowing what questions to ask, who to ask, and where to start can be much harder when you haven’t been exposed to those conversations before.

Today, we’re celebrating the women and men who make up our profession and the many ways pharmacists contribute to the health and well-being of our communities.

Pharmacy is a profession that can take you in many different directions.

Clinical care.
Operations.
Entrepreneurship.
Leadership.
Innovation.
Research.
Education.
And so much more.

At HERizon Rx, we’re particularly inspired by the pharmacists who continue to expand what’s possible within our profession, while creating new opportunities for themselves and for those who come next.

Today is a chance to recognize the impact pharmacists have every day, and to celebrate the many paths our profession can hold.

Le 26 novembre, HERizon Rx sera à Québec pour une soirée consacrée aux réalités de l’entrepreneuriat et de la propriété en pharmacie.

The HERizon Rx Insight Board Report is here.

Women comprise the majority of Canada’s pharmacy workforce, yet remain underrepresented among pharmacy owners and as entrepreneurs in general.

So, what can we do to strengthen entrepreneurial pathways for women in pharmacy?

Earlier this year, HERizon Rx brought together 12 women leaders from across Canada to explore that question.

Today, we’re proud to share our 2026 National Insight Board Report: Women in Pharmacy Entrepreneurship in Canada.

The report brings forward insights, opportunities, and actions to help make entrepreneurial pathways more visible, accessible, and supported.

Yesterday, we hosted the inaugural HERizon Rx Insight Board: The Future of Women in Pharmacy Entrepreneurship.

What a powerful conversation. ✨

We brought together women from across Canada who are building businesses, leading teams, driving innovation, and shaping the future of pharmacy. The discussion was thoughtful, honest, and full of insight.

Thank you to all of the incredible women who shared their experiences and perspectives. Your voices will help inform a national insights report that will guide HERizon Rx's future programming, collaborations, outreach, and advocacy efforts.

There is something special about creating space for women in pharmacy to come together, share openly, and learn from one another.

We are leaving this conversation feeling energized by what already exists and excited for what comes next.
