Our featured team member for February is Dr. Andrzej Weber (.bsky.social). Dr Weber is the beating heart of the BAP: over the last 30 years he's supported countless researchers, secured funding, and kept this unwieldy train on its tracks. As his retirement approaches, and the BAP starts to wind down some of its activities, we want to thank him for all the time and energy he's devoted making this project a success. We couldn't have done it without him!

Dr. Andrzej Weber is a Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Alberta and Director of the Baikal Archaeology Project (BAP). His research interests include archaeology of individual life histories; carbon, nitrogen, and strontium isotope analyses; mobility and migrations; di...

🚨New publication alert!🚨 Dr Pavel Tarasov (.bsky.social) & his team have a new paper in Global and Planetary Change looking at environmental & cultural transformations in the Lake Baikal region. This paper is positively stacked with BAP superstars. Congratulations to all coauthors!

Characterised by heterogeneous microclimatic conditions, a sharp vegetation gradient and a rich archaeological record, Olkhon Island offers a unique setting to investigate past climate change and its potential influence on cultural trajectories in the Lake Baikal Region (LBR). Palynological and geoc...
