Hello everyone!
My name is Sheamus, and starting this week, we will be placing some helpful tips and tricks here on Facebook, and eventually to a new page on our website that we hope will become a valuable resource to all of current & future clients! We know how difficult technology can be, and we hope these tips will help you through those tech woes. And if these tips still don't get your issue resolved, we're here to help!
I thought the best place to start would be at everyone's favorite tech line, "Did you turn it off and on again?". As cliche as it is, you would be surprised as to how helpful it may be, and I'll tell you why. Simply put, it resets a lot of the issues your computer may have, by erasing everything and starting over again. A good analogy I have would be in writing - if you are writing someone a letter by hand, and you make a mistake on the page, you erase it and write it again. This is the same idea with a computer, if it runs into a problem and can't get past it, restarting it may fix the issue by having it try again, from scratch.
A real-world example: your computer is running super slow but you can't figure out what it is. Maybe you have a few browser tabs open but nothing major. The issue could be anything, but for this example let's say that something is running in the background on your computer, meaning you can't see it, and that's what is causing your slowdowns. Restarting your computer may help by closing out whatever was running!
Now, of course this won't always fix your issue. Likely, restarting your computer will only postpone or delay whatever the issue is until later down the road, but it could help in the moment. This fix can apply to many other pieces of tech as well, from smart phones to printers.
If you want more information on this topic, there are many articles online about it, and how it can help your device! Some of them do get a bit technical, but some are more user-friendly. I encourage anyone who is wanting to educate themselves more on their technology to do a little reading, and see what you can learn!
At the end of the day, we're always here to help solve your technical woes, and we'll be doing more than just turning your tech on and off, but if that simple trick saves even 1 person from having to call us, then that's a win in our books!
Thank you for taking the time to read our post. We appreciate all the support from the small but loving community we have been building, so please make sure you stay tuned for my next post in the coming weeks!
