This wonderful woman’s home was our 7th alarm install. Would have been in 1998. We have seen this property go from simple alarm to alarm and camera’s to a let’s do a reno to raise it up. Many changes and add ons. Since the ice storm, things changed again with an upgraded camera system and Alarm.com locks and thermostat and new sensor in Bsmt.

A good alarm system does more than detect break-ins.

After upgrading a client’s system just 2 months ago, a temperature sensor detected a sudden change and sent an alert.
That notification helped prevent what could have become a much bigger issue.

Busy day around the lakes today!

From Sturgeon to Bobcaygeon, Balsam, Coboconk, and Kinmount — here’s what the day looked like:

🔧 Sturgeon Lake

Started the morning repairing a cut wire after an excavator took it out. Got everything spliced, restored, and back up and running.

🚪 Sturgeon Lake Cottage #2

Next stop: installing a beautiful brass Yale Alarm.com smart lock on a customer’s front door. Clean install, smooth setup.

🏢 Bobcaygeon Business

Added another Alarm.com smart lock for a local business owner—security and convenience upgraded!

🌊 Balsam Lake

Installed 2 smart Alarm.com thermostats, 2 temperature sensors, and an internet rebooting switch to keep everything online and efficient.

🔥 Coboconk Cottage

Swapped out expired smoke detectors for a great customer.

🚨 REMINDER: All smoke detection devices expire after 10 years—make sure yours are up to date!

🔋 Kinmount Cottage

Wrapped up the day replacing system batteries and updating their Alarm.com smart lock.

Another productive day across cottage country!

🧊 Started the day at -13°C … clearing snow off the vehicle and getting the new Ford van back into the shop again 😒 — not thrilled about that.

First stop: a full alarm install south of Lindsay.
Next: added an Alarm.com radio for a wonderful customer who was thrilled to finally cancel her landline service.

Then it was over to Balsam, installing two Alarm.com temperature sensors at a beautiful place.

After that, headed north to Coboconk to see Dan — awesome guy with three services with us between his business and home! Meanwhile, Mat and Kyle had a run-in with their bird of all things 😂

Cool part? Two low-temp alerts by Alarm.com at different locations, all synced perfectly on one app.

Chris and Keith wrapped up their day on Pigeon Lake, checking a power issue and adding another Alarm.com temp sensor!

All in all — great day! Big thanks to the team. 🙌

And as I finish typing this… another great client on Balsam calls looking to ditch his landline.

The guys are tying up the last of the loose ends on a large project we’ve been working on — a brand-new build from the ground up, and it’s coming together great.

This project included installing underground conduits and running all the wiring needed for a full outdoor security and technology system: cameras, speakers, exterior lighting, and outdoor Wi-Fi coverage.

We added a mix of advanced security cameras including:
• Pan-tilt-zoom cameras with 45x zoom
• 500-ft night vision
• 180° wide-angle coverage
• License plate cameras (LPR) designed to capture plates in all conditions — headlights, no headlights, high beams, tail lights — and at speeds up to 85 kph
• Full two-way audio (talk & listen)

Well, between getting all the vehicles sprayed for rust control and the winter tires sorted out, it’s been a busy one. A big thanks goes out to the guys here for running the vans around, Big Nicky for getting them into his shop, and Duane at Duncans for the tires.

Even with all that, we still made it to Cambridge to add some details to a Control4 system, got a full camera system installed in Lindsay, added temp sensors to a hot tub, and set up an Alarm.com light switch for a great guy who can now schedule his porch lights to come on automatically.

On top of that, we completed a Starlink install, an Explor internet setup, and ran a new phone line for a business in town. We checked on a cottage and discovered a squirrel squatter, handled a service call in Uxbridge, and squeezed in a last-minute service call for a client who had sold and closed today—removing all the Bell TV rental equipment before handover.

All in all—busy, productive, and never boring.

Picture is a Water Sensor. when it gets wet, sends signal to Northern Lights. When Alarm.com is on system it goes to the owner and NLS. This also has a Camera watching the sump pump.

Today on Pigeon lake the guys installed a wireless temperature sensor made by Neo that will display the temperature on the ALARM.COM app. It will send alerts as well.
