Why Create Policies and Procedures

The more information you can provide your team members the more informed their decisions will be and the less amount of time they will need to spend asking questions.
A Policy Manual gives your team members a point of reference that is available at all times.
Having standard practices or procedures ensures that everyone is treated fairly and that everyone is following the same guidelines.
These policies and procedures outline the Company’s expectations in various situations and ensure that procedures are followed out correctly at all levels of the Company.
These policies also inform team members of where to go and how to report an issue they may be having. It provides a process where they can feel heard and be assured that the issue will be investigated properly.
There are many advantages to having policies and procedures in place. It is important to ensure that they follow legislative requirements and that they are clear and concise in their direction and intent. Policies and Procedures not only need to be in place, but team members need to be trained on each one. By having team members sign off acknowledging their understanding of these policies you have done due diligence in informing your team and ensuring they understand the rights and obligations within.
Policies and procedures, when done correctly, bring efficiency and order to the workplace, protect both the team member and the company, and assist in creating a unified team.

February 23, 2023, in the small town of Fenwick, ON a dream will come to fruition! A dream to put the Human in Human Resources. With over fifteen years of experience in the field as a generalist at the management level, I embarked on a journey to bring customized solutions to small business, where I am committed to being present and becoming “one of the family.”

Each small business is unique in their delivery and needs a customize solution to many Human Resources areas of responsibility. A small business who may not warrant a full-time Human Resource Team member on board still needs the advantage of an experience Human Resources professional to address such areas as compliance, recruitment, onboarding, policy manual development, health & safety programs, performance, and training & development, just to name a few.

Intent on building that intimate relationship with your business, I commit to spending time with your team and getting to know the “family,” so I can understand the whole story when developing solutions.
