Spring and summer are active seasons for Ontario’s turtles, snakes, frogs, toads, and salamanders 🐢🐍🐸
Many herps cross roads while searching for nesting sites, wetlands, food, or mates — making this a dangerous time of year for wildlife.
💚Help protect local species by reporting sightings through the My Field App. Your observations help support conservation efforts, track wildlife populations, and identify road mortality hotspots across Ontario.
Every report makes a difference. Slow down, stay alert, and help keep wildlife moving safely. 🌿

🌿 Species of the Week: The Suckley’s Cuckoo Bumble Bee! 🐝🌺

Did you know there’s a bee that doesn’t build its own nest? Meet Suckley’s Cuckoo Bumble Bee ~ a master of deception and survival! 🐝✨ These bees are obligate social parasites , meaning they rely entirely on other bumblebee species to raise their young. They sneak into host nests, lay their eggs, and let the unsuspecting hosts do all the hard work. Nature’s sneaky survival strategy! 🌍💛

Swipe to see why these bees are so fascinating (and why they need our protection too!). Let’s spread the word— Please share, repost and like this post! 💚

🐟 It’s Fish Migration Day, and today we’re spotlighting the incredible Chinook salmon! Some Chinook stay in freshwater for a year or more, while others head to the ocean during their very first year of life. Imagine being that small and already travelling hundreds of kilometres 👀

🐢🌿 Happy World Turtle Day! 🌿
Ontario’s native turtles are facing major threats — including the illegal pet trade. Removing turtles from the wild harms local populations, disrupts ecosystems, and puts already vulnerable species at even greater risk. 💔
You can help protect turtles by:
🚫 Never taking wild turtles home as pets
📸 Reporting illegal wildlife sales
🌎 Supporting conservation organizations

🌼 Happy World Bee Day! 🐝
Did you know? Worker bees are ALL female — and they do almost everything in the hive! 👑✨
These hardworking bees:
🍯 Clean the hive
🐣 Feed and care for the young
👑 Care for the queen
🏡 Repair the hive
🛡️ Guard and protect their colony
Without them, the hive simply wouldn’t survive. 💛
Bees play a huge role in pollinating the plants and foods we rely on every day, making them some of nature’s most important tiny heroes. 🌎🐝

🌿 This Endangered Species Day, Ontario has replaced the Endangered Species Act with the new Species Conservation Act. 🐢🦋🐍
These changes could reshape how species “at risk” and their habitats are protected across the province. Why should you care? Because protecting wildlife also protects healthy ecosystems, biodiversity, clean water, and the natural spaces future generations depend on. 💚 Please like & share to spread the word! ❤️
