COMMUNITY NOTICE

(Use of GREEN FLASHING LIGHTS ON PERSONAL VEHICLES)

Dear Community Members

As an added safety feature for the community, Fire Department, Volunteer Firefighters, Pedestrians and on-going traffic.

Volunteer Firefighters will now use GREEN FLASHING LIGHTS on their personal vehicle.

• The purpose of flashing green lights is to help pedestrians and other drivers to recognize a Volunteer Firefighter enroute to an emergency and be courteous and yield the right-of-way.

• Volunteer firefighters may use flashing green lights on personally owned vehicles during an emergency, while proceeding to an emergency, including response to the scene or to the fire station. Once on scene flashing green lights are to be shut off.

• Personal vehicles of firefighters are not equipped emergency vehicles.

NOTICE TO ALL COMMUNITY MEMBERS:

Fire Department would like to remind residents of the danger grass fires can cause. The warm weather increases the potential for grass fires to occur in open fields, wooded areas and pathways covered with dead and dry vegetation.

Fighting grass fires is challenging because there is difficulty getting water to the area, which hinders extinguishing efforts. Wind can also play a large factor in the spread of a grass fire and could end up endangering neighbouring structures.

Residents are asked to pay attention to their surroundings and be cautious when discarding cigarette butts and matches outside.

Parents should also ensure matches and lighters are kept in areas not accessible to children.

Lighting a grass fire intentionally could result in a charge of arson.

Be aware or keep an eye on kids. This is for your safety and the community membership

!!SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT!!

Spring is here and it’s only the beginning. This time of year, ice is very thin and isn’t safe.

Ice thickness is not uniform at this time of the year and won’t be for awhile especially in areas of high current(rapids,streams), ice can be very thin and one can readily fall through. The rivers are swift and very cold.

These conditions are extremely hazardous at this time and falling through the ice can have tragic consequences.

Parents and Caregivers , please keep an eye on your children and remind them to not play near the river or lakes.
