🚒 A little behind-the-scenes work on our aerial!

Crews removed old grease and buildup from key components of the aerial system, cleaned and inspected the areas, and applied fresh grease and lubricants to help keep everything moving smoothly.

🛠️ Preventative maintenance like this helps reduce wear, protect critical components, and ensure our apparatus is ready to operate safely and reliably when it’s needed.

🔥 Not all fire department work happens at an emergency scene. A lot of it happens back at the hall — maintaining, inspecting, training and making sure our equipment is ready for the next call.

🔥 TOTAL FIRE BAN LIFTED 🔥✅

Effective: August 20, 2026 at 12:01 a.m.

The Total Fire Ban for the Town of Fort Frances has been lifted, in alignment with the Province of Ontario lifting the Restricted Fire Zone (RFZ) for our area.

Open-air burning may resume in accordance with the Town of Fort Frances burning bylaw and permit requirements.

While conditions have improved to lift the restrictions, residents are reminded to continue using caution with all outdoor fires. Never leave a fire unattended, have appropriate means of extinguishment readily available, and ensure fires are fully extinguished when finished.

Thank you to everyone for your cooperation throughout the fire ban and for helping protect our community, our forests, and our firefighters.

🌊 Training Night on the Water 🚒

Last night, Fort Frances Fire Rescue members took to the water for a surface water rescue operations training session.

Crews practiced rapid deployment craft operations, throw bag deployments, and rescue scenarios, continuing to build the skills needed to respond safely and effectively during water emergencies.

A sincere thank you to Agency One for allowing us to train on Agency One lands. Strong community partnerships help ensure our members are prepared to respond when our communities need us most.

🌊 Water Rescue Training Continues

Fort Frances Fire Rescue members were back at it last night, sharpening their surface water rescue skills ahead of our in-water training session in two weeks.

The evening also gave firefighters the opportunity to become familiar with several new pieces of specialized water rescue equipment recently added to our program, while refreshing the fundamentals that every successful rescue is built on.

Every hour spent training helps ensure we’re ready when someone needs us most.

🚒 Natural Gas Leak Response

Fort Frances Fire Rescue responded this evening to a reported natural gas leak at a residence. Firefighters safely evacuated the occupants and identified significant natural gas leaks inside the home, with gas levels approaching the explosive range.

Crews quickly mitigated the immediate hazards while Enbridge Gas responded and secured the natural gas service. Rainy River District Paramedic Services also attended the scene to assess the occupants.

⚠️ If you smell natural gas:
• Get everyone out immediately.
• Move a safe distance from the home.
• Call 911 — do not call the fire hall.
• Avoid using light switches, electrical devices, or anything that could create a spark.

✅ If you smell gas, get out, stay out, and call 911.

🔥 TOTAL FIRE BAN IN EFFECT 🔥🚫

Effective: July 15, 2026 at 12:01 a.m.

Due to the extreme fire hazard, a Total Fire Ban is now in effect for the Town of Fort Frances.

All fire permits are suspended. The following are prohibited until further notice:
🔥 Open-air burning
🏕️ Campfires & recreational fires

With current conditions, even a small spark can quickly become a dangerous wildfire. Please avoid activities that could create sparks and dispose of smoking materials responsibly.
