Business Awards 2026

Indigenous Business Award
Presented to an Indigenous business that is at least 51% Indigenous owned and operated. An Indigenous entrepeneur who has demonstrated innovation, vision and business growth. The nominee may have founded a business, purchased an exsisting business, or diversified a business while showing leadership and dedication to the preservation of culture, values and identity.

Business of the Year 1-15 Employees
Presented to the business with 1-15 employees who acts as a role model for other businesses and demonstrates a continued passion for excellence, shows growth and profitability.

Business of the Year 16+ Employees
Presented to the business with 16+ employees who demonstrates a continued passion for excellence, shows growth and profitability while acting as a role model for other businesses.

Business Awards 2026

Business Woman of the Year

Presented to a business or professional woman from the Rainy River District who is committed to the growth and development of themselves, their business, and the community.

New Business Award 1-3 Years

Presented to an entrepreneur who has demonstrated innovation, vision and business growth. The nominee may have founded a business, purchased an existing one and turned it around or diversified the business. The nominee must have been established in the Rainy River District for a minimum of one year and no more than 3 years.

Trainer of the Year Award

Presented to a business of 15 employees or less, who consistently mentor and provide work-oriented education and training or apprenticeship opportunities to their employees.

Congratulations and Thank You to Andrew Flynn and The Times team for a well put together Candidates Forum last night.

It was well attended and was great to have the involvement of the audience during question period.

I urge all to make sure they are registered to vote, take time to learn the candidates platforms and check the Fort Frances Town's website for information on meetings, minutes of council meetings and how to get involved with local committees as well as volunteer opportunities available to you.

We all create a better community by working together.

Customer Service Award Business/

Presented to a business who has raised customer service to new standards of excellence by consistently providing high-quality customer service and continually exceeding customer service.

Home Based Business

This award honors a home operated business that consistently shows excellence and quality. It will have established strong relationships and conducts its business as a primary or secondary source of income. It must have been in business for at least one year and show potential future growth.

We'd like to introduce Enrico Bookman Damoc, he is a foreign exchange student from Italy. He will be in Town for the week and will be selling educational books and other learning materials door to door.
He is working to earn money for college, as well as to learn more about the Canadian culture.
He has obtained the proper documents from the Municipality.
This is just to inform citizens of someone you may not be familiar with in our area.
Please know that he is not employed, or affiliated by the municipality or the schools.
We hope the citizens of Fort Frances will make Enrico feel welcome and show him why we choose it as our home.
