Garda Fort McMurray is currently seeking full-time security guards for our industrial projects. The successful candidate must live in Fort McMurray and have availability to work a seven shift on seven days off rotation.

What does a Security Guard in Fort McMurray do?
• Manage access control, badging through the computer system
• Camera surveillance for access/egress points of people, material, and equipment.
• Greet customers and register visitors as needed
• Act as a first responder in the event of a crisis or emergency
• Perimeter patrols, searches of camps, lay-down areas, storage facilities and Personal belonging including Vehicles, Bags etc.
• Must be able to work in areas that have exposure to height, noise and dusty environment including seasonal exposure to extreme cold/heat.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements:
• Manual dexterity,
o Standing, walking, bending, and sitting for extended period
o Heavy lifting up to fifty (50) lbs.
• Ability to understand and follow all site policy and procedures.

Qualifications to become a Security Guard in Fort McMurray
• A valid Alberta security guard license
• Standard first aid level C
• CSO
• Class 5 Driver’s License, no restrictions
• Drivers Abstract (up to 5 years, experience dependent)
• Ability to pass a Drug and Alcohol test
• Available to work flexible hours
• Have a clear criminal background
• Be eligible to work in Canada

What you’ll be doing

-Access control through the computer system
-Camera surveillance of access gates and parking barriers
-Greet customers and register visitors as needed
-Manage contractor access as well as access cards
-Perform daily reports and incident reports
-Act as first responder during events, crisis situations and emergencies
-Perform surveillance rounds with multiple foot patrols of grounds and facilities and including climbing multiple sets of stairs safely
-Occasionally es**rt maintenance in restricted areas
-Unlock and lock certain areas during monitoring rounds and via Lenel systems
-Pedestrian bag searches and vehicle searches
-Working in all types of seasonal weather conditions including dry dusty weather conditions and cold winter temperatures.

What you’ll be doing

• Outdoor and indoor access control (computer systems). Must be comfortable working in all types of seasonal weather conditions and prepared for the weather.
• Camera surveillance of access gates and parking

What does a Security Guard in Yellowknife do?

Incorporate safety in all aspects of the security procedures and duties

Liaise with investigators

Review digital recording

Valid Class 5 Drivers License with Clear Drivers Abstract

Excellent communication skill with ability to proficiently read and write English

Experience operating radios, sat phones and other communication devices

Experience with accident investigations, reports, plan drawings and photographs of incident

Emergency response experience including serious injury

Ability to provide accurate and credible evidence in a court of law, if required.

Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check

Successfully pass a company medical

Ability to operate moving and stationary Radar
