UPDATE:
It appears current council is poised to go forward with the 2024 repaving project with the back alley still ranked as the #1 priority. Despite it being an unpopular choice amongst taxpayers.
Also these were the engineers comments about the alley:
"Due to the absence of a proper road structure in the back alley, the lane is susceptible to failure and a shortened life cycle."

Budget season is upon on us, and we are thankful to see around $600,000 has been set aside for road work this year.
Apparently, current council for Town of Fort Qu'Appelle believes the highest priority repaving project is the back alley behind their favorite coffee shop. 🤔
From our perspective, the situation around town currently is that there are many other locations, especially for businesses, that either have terrible roads or do not have paved roads at all. For example, Sioux Ave where Subway and other businesses are located is gravel and often floods, or the road to the ski hill is notoriously bad, or the entire east side of town is gravel.
On top of bad roads, some of the businesses don't have access to public water and sewer connections.
Our question to the public:
If you had $600,000 which roads would you fix in Fort Qu'Appelle?

EDIT: In the original post we incorrectly mentioned that the "west side" of town is gravel. We meant the east side where Sarcan is. Thanks to Darlene Huber for pointing out our mistake.
