Our microbes can be sprayed with the PlantAir drone! ✈️

A microbe is a living organism too small to be seen by the naked eye, including beneficial bacteria and fungi, that help create healthy soils by breaking down organic material into nutrients that plant roots can absorb. Think of this as vitamins and probiotics for your soil.

This is where the drone comes in for spraying. We have fitted our drone with a sprayer designed specifically for microbes so that we can not only support growth but also do it quickly and efficiently.

Remediation, reclamation, and restoration get used interchangeably, but for us, they represent three distinct stages of land recovery.

Swipe through to see how each step works and how biological tools help streamline the process from the ground up! 🌿

So cool to see some of the innovative projects we've been involved in get recognized. Fixed Earth worked with VIYA Environmental on this project to do what we do best: isolate site-specific microbes that can break down the contaminant of concern (in this case, primarily PFAS) and assist with data interpretation. This was a challenging site, and we're happy that our technologies helped to make a difference.

Today, we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

It is not simply a day off, but a dedicated time to read, listen, learn, and commit to actions that advance reconciliation. While today serves as an important annual reminder, these responsibilities belong in our everyday lives. Taking meaningful accountability where we live, work, and lead is at the heart of genuine progress. That begins by prioritizing Indigenous perspectives and deeply absorbing the truths shared by Survivors. Wearing orange is a meaningful entry point, but the real work lies in turning that symbolic gesture into lasting, everyday practice.

At Fixed Earth and PlantAir, we are proud to continue working alongside the many Nations across our region. 🧡

We had a great time at the Healing the Land Conference in Moberly Lake last week. It was great to chat with everyone who visited our booth. Thanks to Saulteau First Nation for having us and putting on a great conference!

Before any of our microbial solutions go out into the field, it all starts right here in the lab. We work directly with our clients to study site samples, isolate helpful microbes, and test how well they break down tough pollutants like hydrocarbons and PFAS. 🔬

By running careful experiments, we make sure every solution is proven to work before putting it to use in the real world.

We sat down with Tim to talk about what we do here at Fixed Earth and microbes! 🌲

At Fixed Earth, we harness the power of native seeds and natural biology to rebuild damaged ecosystems and restore natural soil health.

Native seeds come from plant species that naturally evolved in a specific region alongside local soils, climate, and wildlife. Because they’re adapted to the local environment, they build resilient, drought-resistant landscapes that can recover to match the habitat that was present prior to disturbance.

How we use them:

Encapsulation: We wrap small seeds—like Fireweed, Willow, Poplar, and regional forbes—into water soluble capsules loaded with local microbes, endophytes, and essential nutrients to maximize survival.

Winter Seeding: We get our best results seeding directly onto snow! Winter deployment provides natural cold stratification and locks in vital spring moisture.

Smart Application: Our capsules can be deployed by hand or flown over large restoration sites via UAVs (drones).

Looking to source local seed for your own project? Plan for lead times and check out trusted regional suppliers like ASKI Reclamation and Grandmother’s Greenhouse (NE BC), ALCLA Native Plants and Wild About Flowers (AB), or Satinflower Nurseries (Vancouver Island).
