Thanks to our partnership with Cleanfarms Inc. - you can recycle rolled grain bags and twine for free!

1️⃣ Pick up a collection bag from 1 of 8 participating PRRD collection sites

2️⃣ Shake out your material, removing as much debris, dirt or ice/snow as possible

3️⃣ Place twine directly into the collection bag and secure it closed with twine or zip tie

4️⃣ Return the bag full of material back to your local collection site!

Recycle-It’s Annual Curbside FREE STUFF Weekend is back for its 7th Year!!! Happening May 23-24, 2026📣

🆓 FREE up some space and get some FREE stuff! 🆓

Rid yourself of clutter and find some great FREE items of your own! Put out your unwanted household items during Recycle-It’s Curbside FREE STUFF Weekend instead of discarding them. It’s a great way to reduce the amount of garbage ending up in the landfill, while allowing someone else to find something new.

📌This event will be happening on Saturday, May 23rd until Sunday, May 24th, 2026. 📌

During the Curbside FREE STUFF Weekend:
▶️ place re-usable household items at the curb in front of your home
▶️ only place items at the curb that are free to take
▶️ clearly mark your items with a “FREE” sign
▶️ to add your address to the map, fill out the form on our website https://recycleitresource.com/free-stuff-curbside-free-stuff-weekend/ by Friday, May 22nd
▶️ addresses will be posted on an interactive map

Sit back and watch your old stuff be adopted by your neighbours, or complete strangers scouring the city for discarded gems. Share your finds and connect with other treasure hunters on social media and use the hashtag

If no one picks up your stuff, remember that all unclaimed items must be removed from the curb by dusk on Sunday. Consider donating unclaimed items to the share shed.

Etiquette for placing items at the curb:
▶️ place signs on items with the word “FREE”
▶️ items should still be in good condition for re-use or able to be repaired
▶️ keep items you do not want to give away close to your house, or inside to avoid confusion
▶️ don't discard items on another person’s lawn

Etiquette for treasure hunters:
▶️ respect private property – don't walk or drive on people’s lawns or gardens
▶️ take only the item(s) at the curb marked "FREE"
▶️ obey traffic laws at all times (e.g. don't block traffic, park illegally, or block driveways with your vehicle)
▶️ watch out for children

What can be placed at the curb❓
▶️ books, CDs, & DVDs
▶️ furniture & small appliances
▶️ sports equipment & toys
▶️ tools
▶️ yard & gardening equipment
▶️ kitchen gadgets, dishes, cutlery, pots & pans
▶️ unwanted gifts
▶️ construction materials
▶️ electronics
▶️ clothing
▶️ paint
▶️ holiday decorations

What shouldn’t be placed at the curb❓
▶️ items that are not re-usable
▶️ items that could be infested with bed bugs (e.g., mattresses, bedding)
▶️ visit the Consumer Product Safety Bureau to find out about items that aren’t safe to give away (e.g. expired car seats)

What can I do with left over items❓
▶️ use the Recycle-It App to determine what to do with left over items
▶️ donate to the share shed
▶️ post your item for sale on FSJNow.com, Kijiji or Craigslist
▶️ post your item for trade or sale on local Buy & Sell Facebook Groups
