When emergencies happen, trained teams make all the difference.

Here's a look back at the 2026 Fort Saskatchewan Emergency Management Academy, where emergency responders and emergency management professionals from across Alberta strengthened their skills through hands-on training and realistic exercises.

The academy returns February 22-26, 2027.

Our crew had a blast spending the day at Tim Hortons, helping serve coffee, meeting members of our community, and supporting an incredible cause.

Every coffee purchased on Camp Day helps send youth from underserved communities to Tim Hortons Foundation Camps, giving them opportunities to build confidence, leadership, and lifelong skills.

⛈️New this summer storm season: colour-coded weather alerts are now in use by Environment Canada.

🟡YELLOW: Hazardous weather may cause minor, localized impacts such as short-term disruption. Most common.

🟠ORANGE: Severe weather likely to cause major, widespread impacts that may last several days. Uncommon.

🔴🌪️ RED: Very dangerous, potentially life-threatening weather with extensive, long-lasting impacts. Rare.

The boat launch at West River's Edge is CLOSED as water levels on the North Saskatchewan River remain high under the current High Streamflow Advisory: https://rivers.alberta.ca/

Residents and visitors are urged to use caution when recreating near the river and on local trails. Conditions remain wet and can change quickly. Stay away from fast-moving water, avoid flooded or unstable areas, and respect all closures and posted signage.

🌧️ Help reduce the impacts of the rain.

Residents can help by temporarily reducing non-essential water use, such as laundry, long showers or baths, running dishwashers, and other water-intensive household activities.

When recreating in our City parks, residents and visitors are asked to avoid saturated areas until they have had a chance to drain and dry, including:
• Disc golf course
• River Valley trails
• Ross Creek trails
• Sports fields

Use caution around ponds, creeks, and areas with standing water. Water levels and conditions can change quickly.
