🌽 *The Story Behind Niswi Ikwe Consulting

**A Teaching Rooted in Relationship**

In many Indigenous Nations, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe, there is a sacred story about the *Three Sisters* — corn, beans, and squash — who grow together in harmony. Each one supports the others: corn stands tall and strong, beans climb and connect, and squash protects and nurtures from below.

At **Niswi Ikwe Consulting**, we carry forward this ancient teaching — not in the soil, but in the way we help organizations grow stronger relationships with Indigenous peoples and communities.

* **Corn** represents *leadership and vision*. We help organizations rise tall in their commitments to reconciliation and inclusion.
* **Beans** represent *connection and reciprocity*. We support meaningful partnerships rooted in trust and mutual respect.
* **Squash** represents *care and protection*. We provide tools that protect cultural integrity and create safe spaces for Indigenous voices.

Just like the Three Sisters cannot thrive alone, transformation happens best when people work in relationship — with each other and with the land. We believe that reconciliation is not a checklist — it's a way of growing together.

We are *Niswi Ikwe* — three women, three gifts, one powerful relationsp .

Two-Eyed Seeing is an approach that involves integrating the strengths of Indigenous and Western knowledge systems to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the world. It involves seeing from one eye with the strengths of Indigenous knowledges and ways of knowing, and from the other eye with the strengths of Western knowledges and ways of knowing.
