How do Family Caregivers find me?
Through good people like YOU!

Most of the clients and families that I work with come to me through a "Word of Mouth" referral; either from my friends, someone who is familiar with me and the work that I do OR from past satisfied clients that I have supported.

So, Thank You to those who have trusted me enough to refer me to your Friends and Family members.

Connection and word of mouth referrals are a beautiful thing.

How do I help Families?
~
I share my knowledge, expertise and provide education.
I've been a Nurse for a long time, graduating from UNB Fredericton back in 1989 and working in a variety of clinical settings and in my community.

I have accumulated a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise and that goes right back to the families that I serve and support.
I help people to learn how to best care for their family members with the best practices, teaching them:
~How to prevent skin breakdown
~How to care for your body to keep it healthy, mentally and physically
~How to safely turn and position your family member and aid in their mobility.
~How to safely manage their medications
~How to equip your home with adaptive devices for safety
~How to chose foods that support your body's function
~How to access programs that can support you and the person you care for.
And So.Much.More....

I love being able to educate my clients and their family members.
It is hugely rewarding to be able to share everything that I have learned with them.

"Caring for someone at home is not something you do alone".

You just can't do it alone...
Not if you want it to be sustainable.

This has kind of become my "catch phrase", I say it so often.

When you commit to caring and supporting another person; an aging parent, ill spouse or child, you need to prepare yourself for the journey.
You need to develop what I call a "Care Team".

That team can include family members, friends, neighbors, your Doctor and Pharmacist, visiting Nurses and Home Care workers, Relief care programs, Volunteers, Neighbors, Friends, Co-workers, Meal programs, Technology, on and on.

So, who can you add to your today?

Self Care can be EZ.

I can honestly say it's been all the little things that I have worked in to my daily routines that have the most impact.
•Little things- think hydration
•Free things- think gratitude
•EZ things- think deep breathing
•Consistent things- think daily walks

It feels good to get this message, as I am on the road, seeing a Peace of Mind * client today.

I would want every Family Caregiver to feel the same and hope that you can celebrate being a Caregiver.

What you do is important.
What you do makes a difference.

Feel good about that!

*If you are curious about my Peace of Mind Program, send me a message and we can chat about what that could look like for you.

On the rough days, it can be hard to identify anything to be thankful for.

Overwhelm, sadness, anger, fatigue and fear can cloud the way of seeing what is good in our lives.

Don't make it harder than it has to be.
Take a quiet moment to yourself...5 minutes even.
Get still.
Close your eyes and identify 3 good things you are thankful for today.

I'd love to know what they are!

You have Permission.

I think a lot of family caregivers need to hear this.
You have permission to:
Say NO.
Set a boundary.
Admit your exhausted.
Ask for help.
Take a day off.
Have some guilt free moments.

More than all of that, You have permission to show yourself the same level of care and dedication you give to your family member.

Happy Saturday!
🌼
I don't normally bring my phone with me on my walks.
I try to break away from the screen as much as I can.

I was glad that I had it with me this morning, if only to capture this beautiful bloom and be reminded that there is still a little summer left!
🌼
