A good reminder that the most important part of a repair isn’t always what you can see.

From the outside, this staircase looked worn but reasonably intact. Once it was opened up, however, significant rot was discovered in the supporting structure and where it connected to the house.

The deteriorated material was removed, the staircase was rebuilt properly, and the existing metal railing was reinstalled to complete the job.

The finished result looks much better—but more importantly, it’s solid, safe, and ready for many more years of use.
