Glenwood, NL (March 19, 2026) – Beaver Brook Antimony Mine (BBAM) wishes to advise all stakeholders that the mine currently remains in Care and Maintenance. During this phase, we maintain a dedicated team of mining professionals on-site and strictly adhere to all regulatory requirements, including comprehensive health, safety, and environmental regulations. Our team continues to actively maintain the site in a state of operational readiness.

We maintain regular and constructive communication with the provincial and federal governments and welcome our ongoing dialogue with the Newfoundland and Labrador Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology. We work in close cooperation with all levels of government and our stakeholders, and we remain proud to contribute to the local economy – sustaining jobs and partnering with regional vendors – throughout both active operations and our current Care and Maintenance phase. We are committed to securing a positive, long-term future for the operation.

As is standard industry practice during Care and Maintenance, we routinely evaluate our mineral resources to inform our long-term strategy. These evaluations ensure that we are fully informed of our remaining mineral inventory and help to ensure prudent stewardship of the asset. We are considering all options for the future of BBAM, including a potential restart under current ownership in 2026, but as a matter of corporate policy, we do not comment on market rumors or third-party speculation.

We look forward to sharing any further updates as they become available.

⚠️ BBAM Winter Snow Clearing Notice – Glenwood Northwest Gander River Access Road (2025–2026) ❄️🚜

Beaver Brook Antimony Mine (BBAM) wishes to advise local residents and road users that periodic snow clearing operations will be carried out on the 43 km access road between Glenwood, NL and the BBAM site during the winter of 2025–2026.

Please note the following important points:
❄️ BBAM remains in care and maintenance, with a team of emergency and security personnel on-site 24/7. The site remains closed to the public at this time.
❄️ Snow clearing frequency may be reduced and carried out only as required for BBAM’s operational needs.
❄️ As a result, snow clearing is not guaranteed, and road conditions may vary at any time. The decision to clear snow will be made solely at the discretion of BBAM leadership based on site requirements.
❄️ Road users and cabin owners should not depend on BBAM’s snow clearing in the event of an emergency, as road access is not guaranteed and conditions may be impassable at any time.

We also ask all road users and local residents to:
🚨 Exercise extreme caution when driving or operating any type of vehicle on or near the access road during snow clearing operations.
❗ Be aware of heavy equipment, reduced visibility, and narrow sections while plows or other machinery are working.
🛑 Slow down, give equipment operators plenty of space, and never assume the road is fully cleared or maintained for public use on behalf of BBAM.

Your cooperation and caution will help keep everyone safe this winter. Together, we can support a safer and more drivable access road throughout the season. Thank you for your understanding, and we wish you a safe and enjoyable season of winter activities! 🌨️☃️

⚠️ BBAM wishes to remind all road users that the Glenwood–BBAM access road is a public road. Snow clearing is carried out solely to meet BBAM’s operational needs and is not a public road maintenance or emergency service.

BBAM accepts no responsibility or liability for any incidents, delays, or damages arising from the use of this road. All users travel at their own risk and are responsible for exercising appropriate caution and judgment at all times. ⚠️

Beaver Brook Antimony Mine (BBAM) is pleased to announce our planned return to normal operations beginning on the day shift of August 9th, 2022, for both our mine and mill personnel, after a short period of suspended operations due to the forest fires in the area. Both day shift and night shift will operate as normal. Thanks to favourable conditions yesterday for firefighting for those on the frontlines, and the wind conditions today, we have been informed that smoke has now retreated from our area as the fire is being pushed away from our site. We believe the current risk of poor air quality due to smoke from the forest fires is now acceptably low for the coming days. The immediate threat of fire to the site because of these forest fires is now also low.

The ongoing situation remains a high priority for us, and we will continue to stay in constant contact with the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture and Incident Command. Our health and safety department will continue to monitor the situation closely and will remain informed of conditions throughout the week. We will not hesitate to respond immediately and appropriately if risk levels increase even slightly, including evacuating personnel from the site again if needed. We will continue our work on the fire break at the Nalcor transmission line in an effort to help protect those on the Nor’west Gander River Road, and we have reaffirmed our offer of support to Incident Command for any assistance we can provide.

We have also been in contact with NL Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) and are following all regulatory OHS requirements, as well as environmental regulations. We will continue our fire prevention measures and conduct operations in the safest manner possible moving forward to ensure we that minimize any fire risks on-site. As always, the health and safety of our personnel remain our first and foremost concern. We have an uncompromising commitment to providing a healthy and safe work environment for our workforce and subcontractors. Our commitment to strong environmental stewardship is also a driving factor in everything we do. Beyond that, we continue our firm commitments to our stakeholders throughout the region and are committed to being a positive contributor to our local communities and Central NL.

BBAM wishes to thank Jason and Craig at Incident Command for their exceptional work and valuable insights. We extend our highest appreciation to the first responders and emergency personnel fighting these fires. Our thoughts are with all of those who have been impacted. We know firsthand that the people of Newfoundland and Labrador are caring, generous, and resilient in the face of adversity and challenge. We are immensely proud to see our local communities unite during difficult times and offer our support as well. We thank our entire team for their continued volunteer efforts and hard work, and for their understanding and cooperation during these times. Throughout this entire ordeal, we have had zero incidents and continue to operate safely.

We encourage everyone to remain “Fire Alert” and to keep safe throughout the coming weeks.

Beaver Brook Antimony Mine (BBAM) remains in a temporarily suspended state of operations, with our teams safely evacuated. A small group of personnel remains on-site 24/7 to ensure that we continue to meet our regulatory requirements, provide site security, and monitor and help protect critical site infrastructure. This team is busy carrying out necessary fire prevention measures that will help to protect the site and our local area, including the cabins on the Nor'west Gander River Road and the local communities of Glenwood and Appleton. We will evacuate this team immediately when needed; their health and safety remain our top priority.

At present, we are experiencing a significant amount of incoming smoke as wind speeds have increased since noon. The wind is carrying smoke, along with ashes, from the nearby fires over to the site, resulting in deteriorating air quality. We are in regular communication with Incident Command, and we understand that the threat remains high, and the current situation is volatile. We hope to have more information later this evening to update our employees on plans for the week ahead. The fire remains a safe distance from the site but direct smoke from the fire can be clearly observed on the horizon. We remain on high alert and will respond accordingly to any new developments.

BBAM has joined efforts to create a fire break along the Nalcor transmission line route, starting from the Nor'west Gander River Road location and working toward Cooper's Brook in the direction of Grand Falls-Windsor. We have allocated every possible resource to this effort and continue to offer our total support to the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture and Incident Command in their firefighting efforts.

We are incredibly proud of the actions of our employee Brad Eastman, who volunteered to work throughout the evening and into today with efforts to help build this fire break. In addition, we thank Matthew Johnson and local contractor "Johnson's" for volunteering their assistance in this same effort. If the fire reaches our location, this critical work will help protect nearby cabins and the local communities of Town of Glenwood, Town of Appleton, and Town of Gander.

We thank our remaining team, working under the leadership of Site Manager Shane Osmond, for their dedication and hard work; including Merv Hill, Ryan Roberts, Ryan Ings, and Denise V. Hewlett. We also extend our appreciation to Incident Command and all emergency personnel for their tireless and courageous work. At this time, the situation remains under control, and we hope to return to normal operations once the threat level has decreased and air quality improves. Currently, health and safety are our top priority. Please stay safe.

Beaver Brook Antimony Mine (BBAM), located 43 KM Southwest of Glenwood, NL, has indefinitely suspended all operations and activated our evacuation protocols due to forecasted smoke from the nearby forest fires resulting in poor air quality, as well as the fire risk that the fires now pose to our site. This suspension was effective at 19:00 this evening (August 6th, 2022). The site evacuation went safely and efficiently, and most of our personnel are now home safely. Air quality on-site is currently deteriorating as wind conditions change and smoke from the Bay d'Espoir forest fires cover the site.

Currently, we are maintaining a crew of critical personnel and security to monitor the site 24/7 and ensure that we continue to adhere to our regulatory obligations. We have activated our security systems sitewide, including camera monitoring. We are currently enacting fire prevention measures across the site. We ask that the public avoid coming to the mine location at this time. The health and safety of our remaining crew is our top priority, and we will be monitoring air quality over the coming days, as well as the location of the fires. We are preparing for conditions to worsen tomorrow as higher wind will likely drive fires closer to the site. A complete evacuation will be enacted when it is deemed necessary.

We are regularly communicating with the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture, and Incident Command regarding the forest fires. We thank Incident Commander Jason Glode and his team at Incident Command for their continual updates and extraordinary work. We thank all those responding to the fires across the province and all emergency personnel working to keep our site and surrounding areas safe.

Earlier this evening, BBAM was requested to provide equipment and operators to aid the efforts to create a fire break at the "Nalcor power line" near our site. BBAM has offered our full support and assistance to the Department of Fisheries, Forestry, and Agriculture and all emergency response personnel. We currently have multiple pieces of equipment and operators helping in the efforts to create a fire break that will serve to protect the cabins along the Nor'west Gander River Road and local communities. We thank our employees for volunteering for this critical work.

BBAM will keep our personnel updated throughout the following days and send our appreciation to our personnel and subcontractors for their ongoing support. Our thoughts are with all of those throughout the province who these fires have impacted. Please stay safe and we hope to return to normal operations soon.
