Its a sad day... but don't do it alone!

When tragedy touches a rural community like ours, the impact reaches far beyond those directly involved.

In close-knit communities, we know one another. We are neighbours, classmates, coworkers, friends, and family. News travels quickly, and grief is often shared by an entire community. Even if you didn't know those affected personally, you may still feel sadness, fear, shock, or a deep sense of loss.

There is no "right" way to grieve. Some people need to talk, others need quiet. Some carry on with daily routines, while others find even simple tasks overwhelming. Every response is valid.

During times like these, be gentle with yourself and with those around you. Check in on your neighbours. Reach out to someone who may be struggling. Allow yourself space to feel what you feel without judgment.

Healing doesn't mean forgetting. It means finding ways to carry our losses while continuing to support one another.

If you are finding it difficult to cope, please remember that you don't have to carry your grief alone. Reaching out for support is a sign of strength.

❤️ Our island community is resilient because we stand together; especially in the hardest moments.

Be kind to each other during this time, if anyone feels like they would like to reach out here is my and my colleagues email:
