Your wedding should be personal and just the way you want it! Whether you are religious or more spiritual in nature, or are more comfortable with a completely non religious ceremony, that doesn't matter to me. My metaphysical beliefs allow me to be very open-minded when it comes to your personal path and believe all are important if it's important to you. Weddings are about your commitment and love for one-another and that's the most important thing.

Popularity of the White Wedding Dress

Historical Origins ~
The tradition of wearing a white wedding dress is widely credited to Queen Victoria of England.
She wore a white satin gown for her wedding to Prince Albert in 1840, which was considered unconventional at the time.

Spread of the Trend~
Following Queen Victoria's wedding, the white dress became a symbol of status and purity, influencing bridal fashion across Europe and America.
By the end of the 19th century, white dresses were commonly worn by elite brides on both sides of the Atlantic.

Mid-20th Century Adoption~
The trend gained further popularity among middle-class brides after World War II, as prosperity increased.
The practice of wearing a white dress only once became more established during this period.

Modern Era~
The association of white wedding dresses with weddings was solidified by mass media and cultural influences, including high-profile royal weddings in the late 20th century.

Today, the white wedding dress remains a timeless symbol of love and commitment, although many brides now choose various colors and styles to express their individuality.

I have served the community of Grande Prairie and area as a Wedding Officiant for ten wonderful years. During that time, I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the hundreds of Newlywed couple’s special day. I put a lot of effort into creating meaningful, and unique ceremonies for them all.

After much thought and trepidation, I have decided to retire from my role as Ordained Minister and Wedding Officiant and will not be renewing my registration with Alberta Vital Statistics or the Canadian International Metaphysical Ministry.

It is a new chapter and I look forward to travelling and enjoying life with my husband while we seek new adventures and enjoy life while we are still young and healthy enough to do so.

I want to thank you all for your support, business and referrals. It has truly been a fulfilling career.

Blessings and much love,

Rev. Karen VanderZee B.MSc.
