A while ago, a business owner reached out to www.ewanalytics.com to create a Power BI solution. He was skeptical, having tried several solutions before without success. To be honest, it felt like he had blocked me after our initial discussions, he either didn’t respond or said, "If this isn’t feasible, I’ll need to look elsewhere." 😬
But I did not give up. I aligned myself with an SME from his team
• ✅ Gathered detailed requirements.
• ✅ Created the initial Power BI solution.
• ✅ Got invaluable feedback from my SME buddy.
The feedback I received was valuable, but I knew the magic would come from the UI/UX.
• 🎨 Found inspiration from their website.
• 🖌️ Jumped into Figma for a sleek, customized background design.
• 🖥️ Whipped up a custom theme in right within Power BI using the trusty "Customize current theme" button under the "View" tab.
• 📣 Got internal feedback to fine-tune the visuals.
When he saw the report, his reaction was priceless! With an enthusiastic Black American accent, he said:
"You go, girl!" "I see you!" "You've been busy!" "Woooo! This is impressive!" "I can’t even tell the difference between this and my website!" "I don't even care about the numbers anymore—I could stare at this all day!"
Just like that, he went from skeptic to fan. 🥳
Lessons learned:
• 🙌🏽Ensure your solution is answering all the business requirements
• 🤝 Collaboration and patience are key!
• 🎯Never underestimate the power of UI/UX.
• ✨ Sometimes, a simple design can win over even the toughest stakeholders.
