UPDATE: 33-year-old, Joel Roy located and arrested

UPDATE 2:

Around 6:05 pm tonight, June 19, 2023, 33-year-old, Joel Roy was taken into custody, without incident.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance in this matter.

Joel Roy remains at large and the Greater Sudbury Police Service continues to follow up on tips submitted by the public. We ask the public to continue calling in tips to GSPS at 705-675-9171 or Sudbury Crime Stoppers at 705-222-8477.

Requesting assistance to locate 33-year-old, Joel Roy - Do not approach, contact police immediately

We are requesting the Public’s assistance to locate 33-year-old, Joel Roy who escaped the custody of the Sudbury District Jail.

Joel Roy is described as being 5’6” tall, around 150 lbs., with a medium build, light brown, shoulder-length hair (hair might be pulled back in a ponytail) and green eyes with a scar on his right cheek.

Joel Roy was in custody in relation to three homicides. Do not approach him, if you see him.
